I'm pretty sure it's Selayer.
Ask Stephan, he'll know.

idk but it was a pretty sweet lookin retic and i know that even dwarf retics are a little more expensive than 200 dollars from a reputable dealer.

Selayer retics are worth aout 200$, they average at 10 feet males and 12-14 females. Stunning animals, I almost bought one a few weeks ago.
The term "slayer" was started by Jay (insert derogatory word here) at prehistoric pets as a way to increase their value and make them more desirable/catchy... They are simply a locale of retic from the island of selayer off the coast of indonesia.

Selayers are stunning man, if you ever plan to work with sunfires or platinums or citrons/titaniums, that locale will enhance the finished product.

yea i have kind of been wanting to breed them to see what happens. ofcourse when she gets big enough maybe i will have found somebody who would want to breed. maybe a super tiger and a sunfire.

super tiger, blech
I've read super tigers aren't the best breeders though. If you you want suntigers (what you'll get from a sunfire x super tiger) just get a good looking tiger. If you want sun supers, it'll take 2 breedings anyways.
Is your current 'tic m/f?

i got a female right now. she is still a little bit away from breeding though she is only about 6 or 8 months old

in 2.5 years she'll probably be ready, its more about size than age, but age is important too especially if you want a healthy female, you don't want to powerfeed them either.
are you going for suntigers or sun supers?

well im just want to find somebody with a male. it wont be my male because i dont really have space for 2 full grown tics right at the moment so i would just let somebody borrow my snake and breed her and i could get 1 or 2 babies to sell or something like that. and yeah power feeding is bad and expensive and im a cheap guy lol. once a week does the trick. and besides i would NOT want her in feeding mode all the time because then she wouldnt really be an enjoyable pet if every time something moved outside her cage she thought it was food.

Towards breeding her, selling low end babies is a pain, unless you are looking for wholesale prices.
Regarding feed mode all the time due to power feeding. My female right now is about 6-7 feet long and gets 4 medium rats a week, easily considered power feeding, Shes the nicest snake you will ever meet. I can reach into her enclosure with a rat, pull it out then pet her on the head... she just never strikes.
The above is a rare case, but even a few other snakes I've powerfed had no noticeable differences in attitudes outside or inside the enclosure compared to other snakes I haven't powerfed.

you're male on the other hand...
(based on what you've told me anyways)

My male won't eat in the first place, and yeh... hes a defensive *******. Musks, gapes, hisses and strikes lol.

dang that sounds like a pretty calm snake. my girl freaks out whenever she smells a rat. and for about 2 days afterwards she thinks that all movement outside her cage is food. im kinda glad that she has a strong feeding response because i know i wont have a problem with her eating (until she gets older and the whole breeding season thing sets in and she goes off food) and with the whole breeding thing i wanna find somebody with a lavender albino or something like that and maybe the babies would turn out pretty cool looking. as long as i make a little bit of profit or just break even i would b fine with it. i just kinda want to do it for fun.

wait... is yours het albino? I thought it was just a regular sunfire. If its not het the offspring will be and won't have any visible albino unless you somehow manage to get a brindle.
scottyy
12-12-11, 06:13 AM
no she is not het albino. looks like i got a lot of learning to do about this whole breeding thing lol.
millertime89
12-12-11, 06:53 PM
aye, there's tons. Albinism is recessive. If you cross a Sunfire the offspring will come out like this:
50% Sunfire het albino
50% wildtype/normal/sun sibling het albino
Then breed 2 of the sunfire het albinos and you'll get:
1/16 sun sibling
1/8 sun sibling het albino
1/8 sunfire
1/4 sunfire het albino
1/16 albino
1/16 super sun
1/8 super sun het albino
1/8 sunfire albino
1/16 super sun albino

He won't get super suns unless he crosses it with an albino sunfire (really expensive)
I'd cross it with a platinum, a clean one if you can find it. Although sunfire citrons are nice snakes. (citron is het titanium)

Ah, I wasn't quite sure how the super sun gene works.
stephanbakir
12-14-11, 02:53 PM
Yeh, both parents need to carry the gene to get supers, same with tigers etc
