This week I picked up two new carpets. One is a VPI line Jungle female produced by SEK Exotics. The other is a male Irian Jaya Jaguar produced by East Coast Exotics. Steve from SEK and Jerry from ECE are both very friendly people and very easy to deal with. I couldn't be happier. They will be breeding when the time comes hopefully :D

Jag's are such beautiful snakes, but after I experienced my jag going through the neuro issues, I told myself that I would never get another Jag no matter how beautiful it was or who produced it. I know they are so popular but I just couldn't stand watching him going through his issues. They are both beautiful snakes though. Congrats.

I'm not that familiar with them, are they particularly susceptible to neurological disorders as a species?

the jaguar is a co dominant gentic colour and pattern mutation found in coastal carpet pythons

there are neurological issues with this mutation, anything from very slight head wobbles to full blown corkscrews, there are also plenty healthy jags out there

of all the jags i've seen or spoke about with their keepers,i have found it is only a small percentage of jags who show these signs,

imo the worst bit about the neuro condition is,it can appear at any age in an other wise healthy snake or never appear at all (there is no way of knowing if your jag will get neuro's or not)

it would not and has not put me off keeping jags, the 2 i have just now are healthy and show no signs at all

cheers shaun

Beautiful snakes. I really like the Jag. My Coastal Jag use to get a bit of a wobble when she get excited, but seem to out grown it. She only do it when food was around. My Jungle x jag never had any issues.
