Not sure if I put this post in the right category. My ball has a strange swelling in a small area. It looks as if she might have broken a rib. She doesn't seem bothered by it all when I touch it, or hold her. Haven't put pressure on it, in fear of it hurting her. Her behavior hasnt changed other than her being more curious. It's been a couple days, swelling seems to have gone down. Not as noticeable now as it once was. I'll put picture up sometime tomorrow, when I get a hold of the camera.

Certainly need a pic.
How long is she?
Where (in inches) is the sweling on her body? (Ex: 5 inches from her head, 5 inches from her Cloaca.)
When was the last time you fed her? And what/how much did she eat?

Kind of a hard speed bump feel

If youre still sceptical and it doesnt look like its improving, switch to newspaper or paper towels. Wooden bedding is no good for infections. Cant really tell you much more without a picture.

I don't trust wood bedding too much. pet stores here tend to sell them with mites and such.

Snake mites wouldnt be in wood substrate and wood mites wont attack your snake :)

thanks, i didn't know that :) better safe then sorry. I tend to use newspapers and when traveling i let her have an old hand towel to keep her warm.

Not sure what it could be. Mark the calendar for when you noticed it and keep a log of its progress. Note any personality changes (if any), eating habits, bowels movements, etc as well. As it goes away log it and then watch to see if it comes back.
If you are really worried and it causes distress/pain, take her to a vet. It could be a cyst that was reabsorbed, but that is PURE Speculation.

Glad to hear the swelling has gone down. Just keep a record of it so that if you do have to take it to the vet, you'll have an accurate timeline of how things progressed. Good luck!
