i got a new boa a few weeks ago at the reptile expo..

going on what the breeder told me:
should be full grown at around 6 foot max.. ( the mom was 9 foot )
eating frozen/thawed rat pups... (he ate)
temps should be around 82-84 ( currently 83 )

the only thing is need some questions with...

when i hold him (only for about 4 min. at a time still) he always wants to crawl up.. always on the move UP,... is this normal? lol im use to balls and corns where they just crawl ..i guess you could say forward?

i have never seen him in the hide i have for him. he is always laying in the bedding, or sometime burried in the aspen.. (which is what the breeder told me to use )

so i will post some pics too :) i just have to take some new ones, long story short, my phone is syncd to photobucket and auto uploads, well i deleted all my pics (since they are on laptop) and some how they all uploaded to photobucket and i lost all my albums and everything so i need to rearrange.. lol

pics up soon!!

his name is Benji, and i will be starting a "profile: Benji" thread too. :)

Both my boa like to slither up my arm toward my face so I think this is normal

My retic always wants to be on top of me, and my JCP and my GTP, i think any snake that spends time in trees likes to be up out of the way??

You know that snakes never stop growing, right? Not trying to be a jerk or anything, just curious after reading the post...

They do reach a certain size, and slow down considerably.

Normal boa behavior. Put a ball cap on and see what he does ;)

lol thanks guys.. i thought it was normal, but no harm in double checking... as for the growing...

i have read only certain snakes keep growing because they lack a hypothalmus in the brain... Retics are one of these snakes.. it is what i read! i just want everyone to know, i read this a while a go in an artical in a magazine...

any who, yea, i know they will reach a certain point, but they will slow down...

a kenyan sand boa wont reach 10 foot if it lives to be 30 yrs old, ya know?

just going mostly by what the breeder told me.
