hey everyone, i am setting up an encloser for a chamilion. I almost have it complete. I really enjoyed setting up this encloser and it looks great. My local pet shop can order in vield or panther chamilions and i like both. anyone have any experience with either one and would like to share. I like what i read about both but experience speaks for itself lol.

While I have no personal preference, try to get a female. If you ever decide to breed you already have a mature female. Males are also... testy when in the breeding season while females are always pretty calm

Go for the panther, they seem to be alot less agressive and the colors are amazing, but try and see the Sirs before you buy, cause people a mixing up locals alot lately.

Dont get me wrong, veileds are amazing creatures, but they tend to hiss and bite alot more and have less colors.

Uless you want to breed, i would not suggest a female has they are like chickens, they make eggs without mating. They can get eggbound and, well, without going into detail, you dont want that. You will need a laying box with proper substrate cause she will need a place to dig.

Chameleons are a challenge, but the rewards are worth it, please post some pics!

In my opinion, veileds are a little bit easier to care for. With panthers, you have to worry a lot more about keeping the humidity level up. Chameleons in general are pretty high maintenance, but I think veileds make better starter chameleons. Keep in mind that chameleons are really more of a display animal and don't enjoy being handled. You can handle them for short periods of time if you have to, but they tend to get stressed out very easily.
