View Full Version : Chompers Gone - Happy Endings!!!

Today I had a fire inspection done in my building, my landlord has always been interested in my reptiles even my big 10+ plus boas. He always liked Chomper as well. The Roaches he was not impressed by at all, I tried and tried explaining that they pose NO threat to the building at all (Dubias) I could not lie to him, I wanted to tell him they are for a "project" Bottom line is "NOTHING" that eats bugs in the building. I respectfully obeyed his new rule so I gave him to a local shop, that will be bringing him to the expo in Kitchener, ON this Sunday. If you are interested in seeing him he will be at "Hamilton Reptile"

I'm still in shock, I had him as a baby... 2 years

Wish I was still in Barrie Ontario, I would take him for you till you were in a place to take him back.

No S!%@ I would still be in shock as well, the love we grow for our pets/friends.

What a tool! Well I guess there have to be rules but..... can you find another place?

Oh and kudos for the honesty. Most would've lied or made false promises. I must say that took guts.

We are comfortable here, it's close to all my amenities.

If I bent the truth, what happens when I get caught down the road, I could loose all my herps. It was a hard decision, hopefully the right one.

I'm really sorry, hope he goes to a good home.
I must say however, when I saw the thread title, I thought Wayne's Chomper had died, I'm relieved that isn't the case.
Once again, very sorry for this.

Landlords almost always suck.

I only became a homeowner at age 40, so 20 years of my life I was at the mercy of creeps who made rules, stole deposits and entered my residence while I was away.

Hopefully my remaining two kids will take me up on a free acre of land and stay close, I could never bring hardship on them.

 So Sorry you have to re-home him..

Things like this are why I worked 80 hrs a week as a teen. I bought my first house at 18 and never rented. It makes me sick how land loards try to control your life and your wallet.

Jay
12-03-11, 08:10 AM
My land lord it not at fault, he is an old friend and a nice guy. Bottom line is they are illegal anyways where I am. I mostly blame myself for having to part with him, I never thought about the long run, where I might be in 2 years ect. Chomper was my favorite pet. The guy at the shop gave me a little iguana from el Salvador to try and bring up to weight, and keep me busy.

We are going in with a vendor, so we'll be there very nice and early :) So unless something goes wrong we should be able to pick him up. The moment we get in, I'lll go straight to looking for their booth.

Their booth is Hamilton reptile look for a the spitting image of marvel freak, clean shaved head with a big orangish beard named phill. I hope you get him and honestly if he raised the price I will not hesitate to email transfer you some money just to ensure a great home for him. The last thing I need in the back of my mind is he went home to live in an aqurium and fed an unhealthy diet...

Jay
12-03-11, 05:53 PM
That's what I'm hoping he does not do...I lost money on him, I had to pay the guy 20 dollars, and he gave me a green Iguana he had listed for 59.99. He is generally a nice guy, under the circumstances I had to do it. I still feel like crap, I am crossing my fingers for you.

So we have successfully brought Chomper home with us :D
When we got him he was at 67F :( .. very cold, we spent pretty much the whole expo warming him up and half way through the day he was warm and active enough for us not to feel worried. He also chomped down 8 Hornworms.. We've got him in his enclosure now and will update you further later.

Great video! His enclosure is pretty awesome. Did you build it yourself or is it something that you adapted? I never thought of putting a slanted front on a large enclosure but it makes good sense. Would make it simpler to get into the back of it. I actually saw an old deli display case yesterday on the sidewalk that I was thinking might make a good enclosure with some adaptation. Would hold up to humidity, its totally sealed and has a nice deep base for substrate. Might have to go see if its still there...

12-07-11, 01:17 PM
We payed 100$ shipped for that enclosure lol. Its fantastic. (It was wired, with lamps, hangers and heat.

stephanbakir
12-07-11, 01:22 PM

We also got 3 heated snake racks, with thermostats for another 300$ from the same guy.

stephanbakir

I was glad when they got this guy. Bylaw got him, he had 5-6 animals per enclosure living in filth.

stephanbakir
12-07-11, 01:29 PM
To give you an idea, they had a baby asian water monitor, a burm, 2 balls a carpet and an old corn snake living in that monitor enclosure, WITHOUT dividers.

jarich
12-07-11, 01:35 PM
Yikes! Ya, he obviously deserved to have them taken away. Thats insane

stephanbakir
12-07-11, 01:42 PM
When we got the racks and enclosures, they had a solid inch of feces and shed in all of them, had to soak them in bleach for a long time before I trusted them with my animals.
