The jury is still out on exactly what subspecies of Rainbow Boa that Skyler *really* is, but that doesn't stop her from lookin' hot, so here are a couple of shots from tonight :D

She's looking good, as usual. Nice composition of your shots, Todd.
Any idea as to what she weighs?

Thanks, folks. I sure enjoy her :)
I have no idea what any of my snakes weigh - haven't weighed one for over 20 years. She's heavier than a pound of butter, but not as heavy as I am, lol. I'd say she's a little under a kilo, but I couldn't say for sure. Next time you're in the Capital, bring a scale and we'll find out, lol.

She's gorgeous. I might be in your neck of the woods over the holidays. If so I will bring my scale ;)

Awesoe snake she does seem heavier bodied than some of the others I've seen it woud be interesting to know her locality but she is a beautiful healthy snake

Haha, she's not huge, but she's not small. She measured exactly 48" on October 24th and I've since upped her food size to med. rats, so she ain't gonna be getting any smaller :)

She's some subspecies of Columbian; likely Guyana (thought to be a cross and not actually defined as a separate subspecies), but possibly Paraguay. Either way, Columbians tend to be a more robust snake than their Brazilian and Argentine counterparts, which is why I like them.
When she's not at rest like in those images (I had just lifted the paper she was curled under, so she was very chill and not tensed-up), she's all muscle; very defined and it took a lot to get her that way. She was quite chunky when she came to me, so she's been on a strict routine of banister exercise to keep those muscles toned ever since :)
Gorgeous. I'm thinking I might have to have a Rainbow boa some time down the line.

They're a really under-rated snake, in my opinion. You can't swing a cat without hitting a Brazilian, but I really enjoy all the subspecies of Rainbow (particularly Columbian and Argentine), and they're an excellent alternative to a Boa Constrictor for those in areas where larger constrictors are banned.

What a beauty... She almost looks like a mix of Brazilian/Colombian... Not saying she IS a hybrid, just that shes thick bodied and she's got the darkness of a Colombian but with the underlying pattern of a Brazilian. I think I'd like a peruvian next if I can find one after I've moved home.

My Rainbows are the only ones I would consider breeding, actually. I don't think people would be inclined to treat them like trading cards because they don't get too big and they're just such great snakes, so yes, I think the drive to the Capital would be worth it. Where else would you get a freebie that you'd have lineage information on ;)

Money for snakes? You got the wrong guy, lol. It's about finding the best possible home, not monetary gain. I balk at the very idea of living animals for profit. Besides, you're part of the Network and that has it's privileges ya know :D

Btw, Josh (JDavy) has a pair that he'll likely breed. He's closer than I am to you *and* he's part of the NRF Executive, so you might get a good deal on one if he breeds them. It'll be another year or two before my little one is ready to hook-up with Skyler ;)

She's absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful Snake!! If you do breed her let me know I'll fly out to pick one up, and no matter what you say also give you something for your time :)
How Big do the normally get?

Lady_Bug gets a special deal 'cause I appreciate her attitude towards herps and she's part of my group (National Reptile Fans), but I'll start paying closer attention to your posts to see if you'd be a suitable candidate for when I have the pitter-patter of little Skylers around the house :)
Of course, I'd try to place them within the Network first, but who knows, perhaps by then you'll be a member, lol.
These things get anywhere from 4-6 feet, with 6 being a really big specimen. I've never heard of one getting over 6 feet though.

Thanks again for the compliment Todd
As for the hatchling I won't be ready for another year or so I'm moving into my house in june and then I am going to set up my herp room properly first I'm building a few 4x2x16 out of melamine and I'm going to stack them for my terrestrial snakes and then I am going to build a couple arboreal ones as well then I have all of my glass vivs it's going to be one heck of a room wall to wall herps

Here's an image from last night as Skyler was doing her rounds which gives you an idea of her size. Because she's so long yet so small, it's hard to capture her length without losing detail because I have to get so far away to fit her all in frame :(

She shed less than 2 weeks ago so she's not due to start a moult for another 2-3 weeks. Her belly is just getting more and more pink as she matures :)

Looks very much like a Paraguayan to me - very similar to my male in my breeding pair.
Getting a breeding pair of argentines next week - so excited!

Yeah, that's actually what I have her classified as on my website.
I'd *love* to find Argentines in my area! I'd also love to see some images of yours :)

Very nice! We should ask our trusty Mod to move them to a thread of their own so folks can find them easily. I know I'd like to refer to them in the future, lol.

No problem
I have kept and bred brazilians, colombians and caatingas over the years but only have paraguayans and argentines now - wish I still had the colombians but am more into rat snakes at the moment and space is tight til I get my reptile room built later in the year.
