So I was just informed about an hour or so ago that the garden phase ATB I'm trading my chinese water dragon for Friday is about 5 feet!
I've never owned a snaked that big nor have I been bitten by one! The biggest I've had and been bitten by is 3 feet!
I was wondering if anyone has any advice to keeping an adult and pictures of theirs[ and bites!] are welcome!
I'd really like to have a group discussion about it rather than searching on the web. I just feel like it would be more helpful to hear from first hand perspective. Thanks guys and I look forward to talking with you!
P.S This is Vlad, The Impaler :3
P.S.S I've posted the same thing on Amazon-Alliance. Well basically, just not word for word. lol

their is a thread called The Bite Club. check that one out. as long as you handle your snake with care and dont spook it, and stay clear during feedings, you may never get bit. getting bite sucks no matter how big your snake is :P i have a boa named Vlad as well, a bloody salmon boa :)

My atb is over 5 ft. I have never been bitten by her. She pulls back and gets real still right before she strikes. I am keeping her in a TV cabinet I have converted. Even though the are long they are really thin. So the power isn't there like other big snakes......or so I was told. Do you know what he is eating? Mine is a pain to feed because it was raised on birds and not rodents.

not sure if the actual size of the snake really determines how hard they bit, my 5-6 foot jag carpet bit me and just left some teeth cuts and was a little stiff moving the figers around after, my retic got me once when she was half the size, cut my hand worse and left 2 of my finger black and blue all around the bite and swelled up my knuckles a bit. she hits like a freakin truck, now that she is almost 9' i bet, i sure hope she never tags me LOL

I am not sure how the whole strength of the strikes works but I had a guy tell me that the thicker the snake the harder the strike. The size of the teeth would also make a huge difference. Again that is why I said .....so I was told.

ATBs love to bite, it is what they do best. They have long teeth, which mans deeper bites. They love going after the face. If you are an experienced handler, you do not have to get bit. I have kept these snakes over 30 years and currently have 18 of them. I have never been bit by one. But they always try every time I take them out. LOL

Well what can I say. She will let me get her out but putting her in is a whole new story.

I've only been bitten by a ball python, he was between 2-3 feet.
I'm experienced with snakes but not boas.
My first snake was a grass snake my uncle caught in the wild then he died and I was really upset then a few years after I got my first ball python I named Kalypso, he was soo awesome. He loved sniffing my ears and getting tangled in my necklaces. Then I got a albino or creamsicle cornsnake, I get confused with the 2 then a jungle carpet python I miss sooooo much. He was so sweet.
I'm not sure what it eats, I'm assuming baby rats or something. I'm hoping. lol
And I really like the tv cabinet idea. We are getting a new tv for the living room that won't fit in our cabinet, I might steal your idea >:3
How do you keep it heated and does it hold humidity well?
And like I said on anther forum, I'm prepared and willing to get bitten, how can you expect not to? lol
