Hi there,

I'm new to this forum but not new to reptiles. We started keeping snakes when my oldest son was in first grade. He and his Dad thought snakes would be a cool pet. Well, I just didn't get it but said as long as I didn't have to do anything that was fine, famous last words!

Fast forward 9 years and I have been breeding corns and Eastern blackneck garters for about 5 years. My kids no longer have any interest in snakes and even their friends dont think it's cool that their mom breeds them. I recently cut back due to real life but still have a fair collection of corns. I have kept back one of my original eastern blacknecks and look forward to seeing babies from the snakes I have sold over the years.

Snakes are like chips, you can never have just one. Do you have a website?

Wow this place is hopping!

Thanks for posting all that info Wayne. We know each other through the web and Wayne has a whole bunch of my blackencks, many of which he saved because I could not get them to eat.

I named my oldest Blackneck "Mojo" after Mojoherps.

She's like 3 or 4 years old now.

Hello and welcome! I was on your site and looking at the adults for sale. I can't believe how bad we get ripped of here in Canada!

Hi Eli, I remember you and your Dad (I think). You were very thoughtful in choosing what snakes would be best to add to your collection. I hope they are doing well.

I don't think you get fleeced in Canada. Everything is more expensive in Canada and my adults are currently marked fairly low so that they will sell. I am originally Canadian and can tell you that overall the cost of living is not that much less here in the US.

Thanks! I need to update and correct a typo that a member here was kind enough to point out! Great way to make a good first impression! :p

The girl I got from you is doing well. But the male I got from Turner escaped a week ago :/ Dunno where he went.

That's too bad. Look around the edges of walls. I know corns are not supposed to be climbers but somehow I often find that they go straight up.

You can try making a trap. Use a cleaned 2 liter soda bottle and cut the top off. Put a mouse in the soda bottle and invert the top part you cut off and tape back on. The snake will go in to get the mouse and then be too big to squeeze back out.

You can make tape traps by putting double sided tape at the edges of the walls on the floor. The snake will get stuck on the tape and you can get the tape off by using vegetable oil, I believe.

You can also sprinkle flour on the floors again usually at the edges of the room and see where the snake is slithering. I don't think your parents will appreciate this though!

Good luck.

I my local pet store sells regular baby corns for 80 bucks. They just brought in a baby black motley and want 190......... seems steep to me.

Yea most shops are ridiculous on their pricing. Just buy from a well known/established breeder. I've seen normal balls upto 159.99 it's crazy
