Hey guys, So i rescued a Ball Python about a week ago. He has finally settled down and is looking better. He is about 3 feet long and has not been held very much. He is extremely jumpy and when i touch him with the hook he arches his back all crazy. He has never hissed or struck at me. What would be the best way to go about holding him? Because every time i touch him with the hook he gets nervous. Thanks
Chris.

Gloves, pick him up smoothly but assertively and let him get used to you for five minutes, do this couple of times a week til he is "happy" then extend the times slowly.

What happens if you just hook him and take him out all in one sweeping motion? The less hesitant moves you make, the less nervous he might be. Try just going in there, hooking him, and pulling him out. Start with short handling sessions of about 5mins, and slowly build up his trust.

Get some meals into it before you attempt handling. Handling will stress it out and it may not eat. Also, doesn't sound aggressive, it isn't hissing or striking at this point.
