Happy birthday! You're lucky, I never get to do anything on my birthday. My family can't even send presents anymore, it costs too much to ship. :( My parents pretty much just buy presents.

Aww hunny, I think aging is like wine, when kept at the proper temps we only get better with age.

Thanks guys :D I'm sure something good has to happen after having a crap day yesterday
(Whoops forgot to hit sumbit :P)
Though today didn't turn out to be any better... Now my Sav is missing she some how escaped her temporary enclosure and chances are if we don't find her soon by the time we do find her she'll be dead ... Any advice on how to get a scared baby savannah monitor out of hiding?? Or any suggests for where I should look?
alessia55
11-29-11, 08:09 PM
look EVERYWHERE. behind and under furniture especially. Check warm places like behind or under the refrigerator. Maybe you can lure him out with a warm hide. Good luck! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!
Kayla90
11-29-11, 08:23 PM
We've checked everywhere... set up a heat hide... so I hope to god she's a smarty pants and finds it.. I'm going to be so sad if she dies :(

Aw I'm sorry.
I don't think my corn made it.
Hopefully you guys find her soon.
Oh and Happy Birthday!

:( So I looked at the trap twice.. once around 3 am ... Ash did not happen to find her way to it. I plan to give the house one more deep search, but I honestly don't think she made it through the night.. It was way to cold :(
alessia55
11-30-11, 10:26 AM
:( Keep your hopes up. She might turn up somewhere. Check every possible place, even check other floors of your house if you have them. How about behind her cage?
Kayla90
11-30-11, 10:29 AM
We checked.. Though Steph seems to think she'd have hidden in a different room cause this one is really noisy due to all the Rats... There are so many places in our house that she could hide.. I feel like I'm missing a major place I should be looking that I haven't looked yet.. I really want to find her alive..
Terranaut
11-30-11, 10:36 AM
Under the fridge is a warm spot many overlook.
Good luck. Hope you find Sav :(
Kayla90
11-30-11, 11:54 AM
Steph already checked there... no luck
alessia55
11-30-11, 11:55 AM
don't just check under/behind furniture, actually lift it and move it. Don't give up- she's there somewhere...
Kayla90
11-30-11, 12:01 PM
Well I really have no option anymore I have to head off to work.. and Steph is pretty sure she didn't (could not have) survived the night, it was way to cold for her. And if by some miracle she is alive.. by the time I get home from work she probably won't be..
Man, this birthday weekend tops the worst so far.

11-30-11, 12:02 PM
What was she in for a temp enclosure?
Kayla90
11-30-11, 12:06 PM
A bin like the ones we keep the snakes in with a lid.. plus to heavy objects on top (one to help keep the heat in mainly ... and two for extra cation) when we got home she had either some how managed to push the lid enough and shoved them to the side.. or I had forgotten to put them on.. which I was certain I had put them on before we left cause I didn't want her getting cold.. (There was a mesh hole in the lid for other critters so I put something to cover the hole so heat wouldn't escape)..

11-30-11, 12:11 PM
I'll spend most of the day looking, I don't have plans for a few hours.

:( I wish I could help you look for her! I really hope you find her.

11-30-11, 01:04 PM
That sucks, I hope you find her. I really have no advice in searching for a lizard, maybe try to bait it out with food leading to one of the hides. If you do find her, put a bell around her neck!
Happy Birthday though, enjoy it. When I turned 21 time flew, I looked up next thing I know I'm 25 lol.

If only all the animals decided to escape during the summer.. at least then she'd have a chance at surviving :(

I don't know if it is helpful but here is a list of Hendrix's favorite hiding places:
In laundry room beside/behind the dryer.
Under the china cabinet- PITA to get him out of there. (Pain In The A...)
Under my corner table in the kitchen.
Behind the couch.
Any corner he can hide in and not be easily seen.
He had hidden one day so I got down on all fours and crawled around the house looking, so I could see the world from his POV. That's how I found him under the China Cabinet.
I wish you luck Kayla!

I'm sorry you lost your sav! :( Unfortunately, I have no advice, none of my reps have escaped yet. I hope you find her. :)
Though its very unlikely, is there any chance it is still in its enclosure? Mine scared the #$@% out of me one day when I couldnt find him. I looked everywhere and couldnt find him anywhere. Decided it must have somehow escaped so I scoured the place from top to bottom with no luck. The next day he promptly dug himself out of the ground! Not sure if he had closed himself off in one of his tunnels or what but it was a welcome relief to see him pop his head up from the opposite side of the enclosure. Have you tried sifting through the soil?

Sounds like they had her in a temporary enclosure, probably wouldn't have anything to hide in.

yup, that's what Stephan told me.
Oh right. Darn, thats too bad
Kayla90
12-01-11, 12:11 PM
Yea.. I even went as far as hoping she had somehow squeezed back into her actual enclosure.. but I was not so lucky :(
That's Crazy, if she's still alive she could be anywhere. Do you have cats, or dogs in the house?
stephanbakir
12-01-11, 01:18 PM
Both, they aren't reacting. And if ANYTHING moves in this house they freak out till they find out what it was.
That's what I was implying, I had an escaped colubrid, I didn't even notice it had escaped I was trying to figure out why my dog was barking at the closet. Sure enough that's where it was. Try placing a live pink under a few nooks. It may help, chances are though she's gone.

I made a few cages out of chicken wire and stuck fuzzies in them, and kicked my animals out of the house for the day... will wait.

12-01-11, 02:02 PM
I would want to find her, even if she has passed away. At least you could bury her instead of leaving her to...well, I don't want to get into imagery. :(
Keep searching... If I could come over and help I would

Flipped everything, looked everywhere... the only place he can be is under the floor or in the walls... I made 1 way "gates" on those so he can come out but nothing can go back in... God I hope that if hes alive we find him.

F*** ME!!! (Excuse the language) We found her, everyone.. we actually found her..
She was hiding under the small crack at the bottom of our snake rack and somehow ripped the heat pad off the wall and snuck in behind it..
Steph had been hearing weird noises the past couple nights in the reptile room, but we thought nothing of it cause we thought it was rats.. Steph moved all the rats downstairs yesterday so it made no sense today...
You have no idea how happy I was when I looked under that crack, flashed the light, saw her.. and then saw her open her eyes!! SHE'S FREAKING ALIVE was all I could think!!!
I didn't realize how much I had freaking missed her till I saw her!! I never had the chance to bond with her, but the fact that I can now, that my chance wasn't taken away from me just makes me so happy!
She is now an extremely unhappy to be found ALIVE SAV :D :D :D
That's great! So happy you found her alive!

Yea this time we smartened up, we put her in the same bin, same lid... but we shoved her on a shelf on the snake rack so she's getting warm and it's so tight fitting that I don't have to worry about her trying to open the lid again.

Oh and she's feisty... We are probably going to have a hard time taming her down in the future though.. so we are moving her to a smaller tank and plan to work with her from now on.. Our plan was to let her get a little more size on so she'd feel less intimidated, but if we want any chance, we have to start now.. :(
