getting a 2nd beardie...

my wife has shown alot of interest in my bearded dragon, and she was wondering if i could get her one... (well yes of course :) ) my thing is room... i am severly running out of room... could i house 2 beardies in my 4x2x2???

i would assume i would wait for the 2nd one to get older b4 i introduce them.

let me know guys, just batting around the idea...

Usually a bad idea to cohab.
Obviously you can but it can easily stress out the male.

My friend had 2 females that have been together for 4 years in a 4x2x2.
I have no idea as I don't know anything about em'

2 females are generally ok as long as there is enough basking space and they are the same size. You should not house a juvenile with a full grown adult.

if the one you have is a male you should not house another male with him and a female (brumation or not) will end badly. Either with mating or aggression or both. A sexually mature male can severely harm or kill a female.

I think the only times it is ok to house 2 together is if they are both females and introduced very young or if you are breeding them.

People have done females with females with success but its always a gamble, they can always turn on each other at any point. I've known clutch mates females to cohab for years then turn on each other. I also feel a 4x2x2 is only good for one dragon. Mine is a that size of an enclosure and she uses it all I feel to have two dragons in that size of a tank would be nothing but a pain for both of them since they would still be quite close.

Again its really up to you, but in my honest opinion if you don't have the space the best thing to do right now is wait, they will be much happier alone and in their own tanks of the appropriate size.

You could also put a divider in the tank if you can't get a second tank for right now.

Edit: If the tank is wide enough, maybe dividing it along the long side so that they both have the temp gradient ..?

A divider wouldn't work since you would mess up the temperature of the tank, you wouldn't be able to create a hot and cold side for both dragons and would also involve creating another basking spot and adjusting your uvb light. As I said your best bet is to wait until you have room, that is what is best for both dragons, to risk taking home another to have them both or one get injured or sick due to improper temps/care would be careless.
