View Full Version : First post. Quick question
Just got my first carpet. Was told it's a I.J jag snowflake. Right now she is in a 15 gal tank, but was thinking about putting her in a xl exo terra later. Was just wondering what type of live plants I could put in with her. Would like to get started on the plants early cause she is like a little bull dozer. I well try to post a pic of her later. Thanks for any help.

Pothos are safe, but a Carpet is only going to trash any live plant.
Thanks for the welcome. I was thinking the same about her trashing them. Just hate all the fake stuff and would love to use real as I want to display her.

Welcome...
Welcome! I was surprised that the plastic plants I added to my jungle's enclosure actually look pretty good and surely they're less upkeep. Can't wait to see pics of your jag.

the fake ones at the pet store will look decent. The problem with real ones is snakes will trample them and kill them because of the limited amount of space they're kept in.
I wouldn't bother with the exoterra xl, won't be be quite big enough for a fully grown IJ.
you should post pictures too.
This is the new carpet, was told its an I.J Jag. Her name is Kaida which means little dragon...

nice name, does look like a snow jag.
I love the name. Great looking jag.
Thanks for the feed back.. I'll try to get better pics when she adjusts more to her new home. She as a big letter "K" that takes up the back of her head.

G'day and welcome.... sweet looking snake as well mate.
Nice looking snake, cant wait for some other pictures.
Welcome! And I think Stephan is right, Pothos is your best bet with snakes. I have them in all my snake enclosures. While they will generally trample just about anything else, a big pothos is almost impossible to kill. They thrive in the same kind of environment as your snake and require very little attention. Get a well established one with a fairly large pot on it (at least 6" across at the top, but the bigger the better). Water it once a week and repot it maybe once a year. Its super easy and then you have a perfectly natural source of both humidity and fresh air inside your tank. Cheaper too; I think my last couple pothos cost me $10 each

Hyas!
Yes, Pothos are the best IMO because they are hardy. I have 2 large ones in my enclosure and you can root more by taking clippings and sitting in water. Snake plant aka Mother-in-law tongue are also hardy plants. They also help keep the air fresh and humidity levels proper.

Great looking snake. Would love to see a full length shot to show-off that seemingly reduced pattern ;)
Thanks everyone for the welcome and advice. Hopefully more pics to come when she settles down...
