Found this little guy at the local Reptile shop. The price was right, so I picked it up.

Thanks for the nice comments. I wish it was a little more black instead of light grey, but it has a great little temperament.

The colour will change as it grows anyway. Anerys can brown out a lot. I have an adult anery who is quite brown but an anery motley who so far has stayed very dark grey.

She's in shed here but you can see the brown colour.

Nice little anery.
I got my own little anery motley guy. I've noticed they are black as neonates and gradually brown out

I have a male normal anery who's a rescue, but I don't have a anery motley yet. He's close to 3 years old, but his previus owner only fed him once every 3 months so he's really small for his age. He has stayed gray, hasn't browned out much at all.

Here are a couple of pics. First one is when I got him and the second one is him now.

So what does anery mean? I know I sound stupid but I have never been into the whole morph aspect.

millertime89

anery = anerythristic
it means to lack red.
axanthic means to lack yellow.
edit: they're too of my favorite morphs on snakes.
2nd edit: what appears to be an anery axanthic retic. Phantasm from Harry at Monster Snakes Forever.
http://www.monstersnakesforever.com/subindexes/reptidex/phantasm/phantasm.jpg

3rd edit: axanthic can mean lacking red OR yellow apparently.
4th edit: So a phantasm could be just straight axanthic.

OP, re your recent elaphe acquisition:Wow, that was a SCORE! Such a pretty, regular pattern of dots!

So any snake that would normally have red in the pattern can have anery morph?

You and me both! He also has minor neurological damage (i.e. twitching when touched) cause they housed him on pine.

The OP said that this little snake only got fed once every three months by its previous owner; therefore it is reasonable that it be small for its age. But if he now feeds it regularly and generously, it will probably gain lost ground very quickly.

I thought of a name: Maybe you could call him "Anery the eighth"!

Not only did they just feed him every 3 months, but they only fed him one fuzzy per meal when they should have been feeding him hoppers. I have had him for 8-9 months and am feeding him one small adult mouse once a week. If you look at the pics, you can see that he's grown and fattened up quite a bit since I got him.

Thanks for the name, but I named him Earl shortly after I got him.

P.S. sorry for hijacking your thread Knox.

I've looked at (and liked) a lot of corn snake pictures but I keep coming back to the one in the OP. I think I want an anery motley. LOL.
