I got her and her pvc cage with heater , thermostat and light for $500 :)
Plus a 4hr round trip drive.
Thanks for all the nice comments. Pics do her no justice at all.
We plan to breed her with our pastel male.
Once again we got a great new family member for a fraction of their worth.
Might have to start buying lottery tickets ;)

Yup. The previous owner had her since she was born. Aparently his wife and son are "afraid" of her. I was suspicious she had a mean streak but she shows no signs of cage defensive or anything other than sweet, calm and tame. Both snakes going for a pre marriage check up at the vet this afternoon. Pretty sure they smell each other. I hope they get along. Hope they get along real good ;)

Why didn't you quarantine?

Terranaut
11-26-11, 04:33 PM
Had them at the vet today. I asked about that. She said not to bother. Both are in great shape. I planned on it but after her advice and the difficulty I am having keeping humidity in the aquarium I thought the pros out weighed the cons. I even had stool samples so their exams were quite extensive and expensive.
I thought someone might comment on that :)

G.L hopefully it was a herpetologist. How did you get results right away from a stool sample? Did they preform washings from the windpipe and lungs.

Doesnt IBD gestate in the boa host for upto 6 months with zero symptoms? That would be my biggest worry if i introduced a boa into my collection

Quarantine is ALWAYS a good Idea. People miss things and things can hide for a long period of time.

if he had blood and stool tests done and it showed no signs of inclusion bodies he's *probably* fine.

But it *can* hide for periods with the boas showing no symptoms which is why boas are shipped with a ball python - the python will die quickly and show that there is IBD in the shipment.

Ok everyone. Look I wasn't about to transcript my visit but she took swabs from both ends to culture and will call me if anything shows. Yes she said to quarentine at first but after discussing both snakes health and her visual stool test combined with the fact that even with a humidifier running ect ect we decided to go this route. Please don't turn my thread into a debate over wether or not I should have done this. I appreciate everyones comments but maybe we could talk about it in another thread.

On another note Mack is all over Eva. Spurring her like mad.
And i was wirried the husbandry wasn't "spot on". Got to love pvc enclosures!!

At the end of the day they are your snakes and it is your choice what you do with them, i hope that it all works out fine for you.

Thanks I truly appreciate everyones concerns and opinions. Just don't want to discuss it in this thread.

Why judge me like that. You think I will give you a bad name?
The quote you made from me was explained more in that thread.
Thanks for killing my thread :( you are giving you a bad name.

Thanks. I actually have 21 of the potential placed already and no none are going to a pet store. This was a big concern before we started this.
