So Saturday is my birthday and i want two things . A Colombian tegu or Savannah monitor (Haven't decided), and a carpet python. I have been doing a lot of research and even have hand on experience. I have a nice enclosures set up for them . How has your personal experiences been with these 3 animals ?

Tegus are fun but they really need to brumate, some will even do it without you lowering the temps.
Savs are great, but really not for everyone. They have specific diets which are easy to maintain if you breed your own roaches, but otherwise its expensive to feed them.
Carpet pythons are great, but thats a really wide net, some stay small, some get large (over 10 feet) any specific locale?

Savs are really cool. I don't have one but I did a lot of research on them
And Stephan is right they are a lot of money for roaches and what not

I dont own a sav, but if you ask wayne or stephan they can help alot... i do believe they need alot of room tho n get large... so id look into what size an adult enclosure would need to be..

Housing and heating a sav can be costly. some people will say an 8X6X6 is fine, but they get bored in a small or large enclosure, a room is better if you have the funds to build it correctly, and they need out to roam every once in a while.

Chomper slams a pound of shrimp a day ++++
If you have an Asian market near by, look for snails and crabs, they can be had cheap.
