SO, can anyone's snake do tricks? haha i mean it!
My supposedly hard to feed 10 year old Ball, Jasper...he does the begging trick. I have a "corner" of the room where a lot of my critters are, and I sit on the floor and get things ready for husbandry. When I do, he comes out of his hide, or off his rock (we have an UTH but have a bit of slate inside for him that he likes) and comes right up to the corner of his tank...and stares at me. Like, i mean he sticks his head IN the corner, and eyeballs me. If I move, he follows me, flicking his tongue. It is quite ridiculous to watch him beg, when he's hungry!
Let's see...That's really the only, so called, "trick" I can think of. :) I really wondered though if anyone really does have a snake that does a trick!?? How about a lizard or something?
Right now Jasper is pouting at me. He coiled back up on his rock and is kind of eyeing me. Rabbit arrives tomorrow!

Our spiny tailed monitor has become emotionally attached to a stick that he found in his substrate and will play fetch with it - tho i havent taught him to "drop" it yet!!

My snakes are magicians, whenever I give them a pet mouse, they make it disappear!

My Grey Banded King will literally stand up, using the lower half of his body, when i open his enclosure to give him his food:D

No real tricks on my end... but I can pose Kaybe for a photo exactly as I want him, moving his body into the position I want for the photo, and he'll stay still in that position for the photo lol :p He doesn't do that if there isn't a camera in my hand though! He seems to know!
This should be moved into the joke/comedy section...

I dont think snakes can 'beg' it is proven though that monitors can be taught to hit a target of a certain pigment either white or black for a food reward. its true because I saw it on the NatGeo channel.....
they even switched the position of the white and black targets and the monitor still hit the colour that he knew would get him a nice tasty meal worm

I'm not going to argue that what you saw was true however just because you saw it on Natgeo does not mean that it is true. Is it more likely true, yes probable but I have seen false info on there before.

lol you're right... I included the NatGeo part to be cute... like saying i saw it on the interwebs... it HAS to be true.........

I just know that some people do think that " I saw it on tv so it has to be true." I figured you where being sarcastic but I wanted to clarify for not so common sense people..

It should be called "uncommon sense" IMO because many people seem to lack it :p

I deleted my netflix account because I wasn't using it enough (Hulu and RedBox have everything I need really).
Wouldn't it be awesome though if we could train our snakes to do tricks?
"Kaybe, stand! lie down! yawn! hiss!" What an awesome ice breaker would that be?!

thanks guys, spell check wasn't giving me any help, I knew that didn't look right
Alessia, that would be hilarious, maybe more people would like snakes if they did stuff like that.

I don't know...i realize i anthropomorphise a LOT with my animals, but still, it is very amusing to see an actual behavior change depending on if a certain snake has eaten lately or not. Snakes are all instinct, but in his own way, i that silly snake comes over and stares at me when he wants food *lol*
