any wet substrate can do that....

Dry it out a little first.

And also possible from wet & dirty bedding. My best friend left the care of their corn (was 10 yrs old) to her oldest son (15yrs). They used shredded newspaper as bedding and never had a problem until her 15 yr old took over care. He didn't clean No-Feet's enclosure and No-Feet got scale rot. Instead of doing what should have been done, No-Feet was let loose in the wild with scale rot..I was SO angry. Not saying that anyone here would do that, but it's what came to mind when I read the discussion.

Most of us (me included) would find a snake with scale rot or any other illness/injury and bring it home to help it out.

Funny how different people can be.

You and me both. When Tara told me what happened, the first words out of my mouth was, "Why the H*** didn't you call me?!?" grrr I love her with all my heart, but there are some people that should not have pets.
