To anyone who has had mites problems with their snake, can you please tell me how they look like when they are young and what they look like as an adult.

Today when I picked up TITAN (Baby Common RTB), I noticed a very small white bug crawling around his head.
When I bought TITAN and the 35gallon tank, I immediately cleaned the tank with bleach and rinsed it several times.

Now I've got forrest bedding as a substrate bought from Super Pet, after seeing this, I'm thinking about returning the bag and maybe going for just regular newspaper even though the appearance wont be satisfying.

Does anyone know if you can get any sort of mites from forrest bedding bought from Super Pet??? When I called Super Pet, the employee said that it might be a WOOD MITE, but to be on the safe side, I should buy NIX (lice treatment for human hair) and spray down the tank including everything in it now, and again in 3 weeks.
Or should I forget about the forrest bedding refund it and just go for regular newpaper?

Any advise will be appreciated.

Thanks Paolo

Wood mites are white little guys and you can get them from any naturl substrate, whether you get it at a store or in your own backyard. They are completely harmless and really are just annoying to the keeper :p Now keep in mind that pretty well all pet stores have or have had mite infestations. Mites can hitch a ride home on a package of bedding or even on your clothes. They are host specific so they wont stake a claim on you, but they will definitely use you or any products as free transportation to the next reptile :)
