congrats on the tree boa mate, excellent addition to any collection...
i keep my young ones in tubs with the mat, statted and underneath as even tho they are arboreal they will spend alot of time on the ground, especially during the day so i reckon underfloor heating is the way to go or perhaps both if its a super tall tub?
heres how mine looks...

thanks man, that one of youres is nice man and seems friendly enough, tho they dont like sudden movements and will go for the face, i have near been caught a few times...
and yea man i cover half the underside of mine and use orchid bark as substrate. they dont need super high humidity either contrary to popular belief, i only spray mine everyother day, give it a good soak like and make sure to spray the walls and the snake itself as they will drink the drops tho i still offer water in a dish for them.
the bamboo is a cheap and easy way to create perches too mate as they like to climb at night, just be sure to leave no sharp edges...

no probs mate, happy to help. i would feed every week mate, i do mine every 5-7 days and every couple of weeks il skip a week just to mix it up for them. and it will surprise you just how big a prey item they can take, dont let the skinny neck fool you they can take alot bigger than you think they can.
that wee black one of mine in the pic, its neck right behind its heat is about 3-4mm wide and you wana see it take down rat pups that are 1cm mabye slightly more, its crazy.
cool name by the way, love that stuff...

sweet mate, make sure the food is nice and warm for it, mine wont eat if its not but a quick blast with the hairdryer soon sorts that out.

thank you ding .... i found out that my boa is not perching , he is always in his hide ( on the floor) any suggestion >?
I keep a GTP, not ATBs, but it sounds like he might be a little insecure on the perch. Mine was doing that when I first put him in too. Try adding some cover in front of the perch, like a plant, something that makes him feel a little more hidden up there.

hey man, yea its prob just getting used to its surroundings, plus they will spend alot more time than you think on the ground for being an arboreal species. i wouldnt worry at all as its feeding for you so must be happy enough or it will refuse food.
both of mine will stay hidden during the day, very rarely do i see mine perching during the day, but after dark they will start cruising about and are like that after i have gone to bed, when i get up in the morning they are all tucked up under thier plants.
one thing is that to make sure you have a few X points on your perches, they like to spread themselves over a few branches unlike a GTP which will only use one. if mine are not cruising around they perch always where the 2 perches meet and form an X, just something to try if your not already set up like this.
i honestly wouldnt worry, give it a few weeks and learn its personality, after all they are all individuals, yours might just like hiding lol. when i got my 1st one i thought there was something wrong as it was always hiding but it soon came round as im sure yours will.

The others have great advice but the one other thing you should check is how warm/cool is it at the height of the perches? He might not be perched due to temps as well as insecure or perch placement.

With my GTP i make sure that the "ideal" temp is at perch level rather than floor level as that is where he spends most of his time.

how's this wee guy doing now mate?

hi ding ..... she was still staying on the ground , i think because the heat mat is under the tub !! today i changed the setup placed the heat mat on the side and as a `branch` i used green garden plastic mesh. now waiting to see how it goes. the great and most important thing is that s/he is eating and deficating :) thx do you notice this in your boas , that when you put them in their tub they start to strike at the heat mat and then calm down .
CONGRATS !
though every breeder has Her/His own ideas (for instance for heating), anyone who keeps Corallus relieves my sympathies.
Compliments for the 'handling' : mine aren't so KIND

hi matt, glad to hear its still eating and defecating ok for you. that is always a good sign of being happy. i use underfloor heating so havnt noticed behaviour like that and even when i had my big girl 'dodge' she was a really big girl between 6 and 7 ft, i had her in a big tall viv with heat lamps in the viv, caged off of coarse, and never seen her go for them plus she spent alot of time on the ground only perching very late at night when the house was quiet for a while.
if shes striking at the heat source she may be hungry or spooked, what size prey are you feeding her? as i said before they can take big prey for the size of them but if she goes off her food put the mat back under the floor as the big heat pattern she would be seeing from the mat could stress her.
like i said people tend to think that because they are TREE boas, they are truely arboreal and always on display but sadly this is not the case, as they do like to spend alot of the time hiding on the ground. if your getting the correct temperatures at perch level then you mabye just have one that prefers the ground than the perches and there aint too much you can do other than be happy its healthy and eating.
have you checked on her very late at night? i would have a wee nosey at her an hour or two after everyone has went to bed and tv's and that have been off. you might find shes just shy and comes out when she thinks there is no one around.

i think you are right ding .. s/he love to stay on the floor :) i am feeding her a good size prey so dont worry about feeding and i think that i am going to heat from under the tub cause s/he still staying on the ground , so under tub heating is the way to go :) cu and thank you very much for your help !!
