Is it normal for my bp to snatch the rat but take almost 45 mins to start eating it??

As long as it ate it in the end I wouldn't be worried.

Some snakes will "kill" their food for ever... Some just chow down. As long as it eats all is good.

Yeah, I find my girl usually has a stronger feeding response if i tug at the tail of the rat after shes striked and is constricting.

Couple of mine will strike and coil and then sniff all round their viv to see if there are any other things to eat and eventually come back and actually eat the one coiled.

It's normal- you don't have anything to worry about so long as he does in the end eat it.

I have some females that will strike and constrict then like Rob said, will sniff around for awhile, up to 2hrs sometimes. As long as they eat in the end, its no biggy.

the last time I did this I tugged a little too hard, Nero tugged back, and suddenly there was a chunk of tail in my tongs, but no mouse on the end...
