I know several of members on here have dogs, so I thought it would be a good idea to post this here :D

If you're in the Philadelphia area this Saturday, October 29th, you should consider attending the 5th annual PAWS Mutt Strut! The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is the only no-kill shelter in the Philly area. They do an amazing job. If they have an empty cage at the end of the day, they will go to nearby shelters and take dogs off the euthanasia list and into their shelter for a second chance and find them a forever home. I personally volunteer at this shelter and I absolutely love it. My boyfriend got his cat from PAWS too! They have a wonderful reputation and they are 100% dependent on volunteers and donations.
Here is the website for more information: 5th Annual PAWS Mutt Strut (http://pawsmuttstrut.org/)
We're expecting over 1,500 participants and over 1,000 dogs! There will be food, music, a costume contest, agility competitions and more. I will be attending with one of the dogs I walk, Forrest (who's a weimaraner). It's going to be a really great event!
If you are in the area but don't have a dog to bring... You can "rent" a PAWS dog for the day!! You will get to pretend you have your very own dog for a whole day, play agility with it, dress it up, and walk and play with it for the whole event. It's a great opportunity for the PAWS dogs to get out and have some fun too!
If you are not in the area or cannot participate, please consider donating on my personal fundraising page. My goal is to raise $700 by this Saturday. This shelter does wonders for animals in the area, and without it, many more would-be pets would be euthanized. I know the economy isn't doing anyone any good lately, and it can be hard to part with some money, but please consider donating as little or as much as you can. As I'm sure you know, any amount is greatly appreciated. Your donation is confidential. Once you donate, you will receive a receipt which you can use to get a tax refund.
Here is the link to where you can donate to help me reach my goal: Alessia's Mutt Strut Page! (http://pawsmuttstrut.org/alessia)
I would love to get the help and support from all my new friends here at the forum! As animal lovers, I'm sure you all know it would mean a lot to me and the dogs & cats of Philadelphia. They cannot make it without our help! :)
