I realize this species is sort of uncommon I'm just wondering what the general rule of thumb is in regards to feeding during brumation

Ok so this is my first season brumating my lacertas and I am wondering how I should alter their feeding schedule

Prior to brumation they eat every other day or so and its usually a diet of gutloaded and dusted crickets, they get horned worms once a week and the occasional pinkie mouse I started cooling them off on the 18th of October and they had a BIG meal on the 16th

C'mon let's learn together lol I'm already going to write a care sheet so this is like research and some input would be awesome

Brumation is a sort of hibernation, the reduced temps are not conducive to proper digestion, so the food in their belly will rot rather than digest.

No reptile should ever be cooled down with any food in their belly.

The whole idea behind brumation is to slow down metabolism and rest during the cool season, it also promotes ovulation in females.

^^^^^^^

I don't know about lizzards, but you don't feed snakes at all during brumation

I waited for their bowel movements.. or did I make a mistake? the cooling is not extreme I just removed their heat lights

You did good, their systems should be empty for brumation.

How long will they be cooled down?
