Thought some of you all may enjoy this as well. Just some pics of the build at this time. Getting close to finishing the enclosure. It measures 14' L X 6' W X 6' H. It will house 1.2 V. cummingi. This is a dream coming true! These aren't your average w.c. indo smuggled animals either. These are c.b. about 7 generations. These are workable and in time I hope to be able to handle them freely. Once the animals arrive I'll put up pics of them as well. Till then...

It will remain in the garage with all my other reptiles. I'm in south Florida, temps are nice!

That is one awesome build. I would love to build a huge tank/room once I get my Ackies. Keep the pics coming. I would love to see it finished.

I'm jealous of you both.
edit: sort of, you can't keep retics or burms.

in florida? thought the largest exotic snakes were illegal to keep now because people are afraid of them becoming invasive species should they escape.

in florida? thought the largest exotic snakes were illegal to keep now because people are afraid of them becoming invasive species should they escape.

This is still being debated in Florida. The issue lies primarily in South Florida because of it's proximity to the Everglades and the danger large snakes pose to endangered species in the Florida Keys. There are some illegal snakes, such as the native Florida pine snake and other native species. HOWEVER, as of right now, it is legal to own retics, burms, etc. But,

Regarding:
- Burmese python (Python molurus)
- African rock python (Python sebae)
- Amethystine python (Morelia amethystinus)
- Reticulated python (Python reticulatus)
- Green anaconda (Eunectes murinus)
- Nile monitor (Varanus niloticus)
Anyone possessing Reptiles of Concern must be licensed, pay a fee of $100 per year, and meet new caging requirements. It is unlawful to release Reptiles of Concern to the wild or allow their escape. Believe it or not, local code enforcement once gave me a hassle over Chomper, after one of those lovely neighbours of mine called it in...

In New York state any monitor smaller than a Nile requires no paperwork, but if I had a Nile or larger, I am required to fill out a form and report that I own it.

Laws are vague, and vary from state to state, county to county and even town to town.

I fully support a permit system. States with one are usually able to avoid bans. It also keeps most unqualified people away.

Been finding any surprises in the leaf litter yet??

I just built my Sav a new enclosure, put in a ton of dirt and found little white digger bees in my dirt.

Nothing yet but don't mind if I do.

These are c.b.b. animals and I obtained 100% legal cites in order to import them. Re-Export in the future given I have success with them will be of no issue!!! There are a good amount of hides at this time, I may still end up putting some more in place.

Below I'll post a pic of the final enclosure. Still have some things I want to do but the funds have run out so this is it for awhile. Total cost of enclosure comes out to between $1,500-2,000. I wish I would of kept track of the exact cost. My larger proven (laid an infertile clutch, not housed with the male at that time) is the calmest of the 3. I was able to scratch her chin while she had a belly full of rats, mice, and fish. The other female has been the most secretive, I have only seen her once and don't know if she has had a feed yet. The male also gobbled up some grub but he is still very nervous. I opened the door to take some pics and he puffed up, curled his tail and gave me an impressive threat display before he took off to hide. I have done alot of work while the animals were in the enclosure. Alot of loud noises (chain saw - out side of enclosure but close by, screw gun, moving things around) surely have not helped with getting them accustomed to their new enclosure. I am now done and will leave them alone completely for 2-3 weeks except for cleaning and feeding. I have pics of the larger female I will post as well. She is in shed in the pics. All three animals have very impressive orange and peach colors blending with their yellow. I'm in heaven guys, I have no wish to work with anything else at the present time!!!
