I'm temporarily taking care of my cousin's 1yr old female rosy boa that I got for her at a recent expo. I've been leaving her alone to let her settle in. Today I thawed a meal for her to give it to her... When I dug her up (she had burrowed beneath some substrate) I realized she was shedding. She refused the meal, and that's fine with me, since I know some snakes don't like to eat while in shed. Now, here is my concern. I'm a pretty OCD person when it comes to taking care of my animals... I like to make sure the set up is perfect, good temps, etc etc. to ensure the animal's needs are met and to minimize stress of any sort. I'm really really good about that. So I have this rosy boa set up the way the breeder told me to, and confirmed it with several care sheets online. So trust me when I say the environment is right. I know rosy boas don't tolerate high humidity levels, so she has a mesh lid on her tank, so humidity is around 40%. I've also read that rosy boas don't need any special treatment like a humid hide or anything like that to shed well. So here's the issue: I noticed that she's not shedding in one piece. She's shed most of her body, but has some still on her sides, as well as on her face. Should I help her shed the rest by soaking her a bit? Or should I just let her be? Anyone with rosy boa/ sand boa/ rubber boa experience who has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
