I have a 2year old female 3ft Lemon pastel ball python(Bella) that i absolutely adore! after her daily handling, i was putting her away and forgot to put one of her locking clips on the lid. The next day i realized she was gone! My normal male that i've had for years gets out all the time but i always find him no problem. Bella on the other hand has been missing for 3 days! I tore my house apart looking for her but found nothing! I'm also worried about all of my other pets(dogs, cats, rabbits), mostly my rabbits! any tips or advice would be GREATLY appreciated because i'm freaking out! Thanks

Start nearest the cage looking and moving everything you can and move further away as you go. With other foot traffic the secret tricks to find snakes don't work well. (flour on door ways and along walls to see tracks) Good luck. Hope you find her soon. On another note.. why do you not fix how your other BP gets out? If you have a snake getting out all the time there is something wrong.....

Have you tried laundry piles?

look for warm spots, under the fridge is one place they seem to gravitate to, it's dark and warm. (under chest freezers, behind dryers)

Motorized appliances should not be run until you know your snake is safe, imagine hiding inside the back of a washing machine only to have it turned on and the motor starts.

Inside vacuum cleaner hoses, do NOT extend any folding couches (hide a beds) the steel frame acts as scissors when you fold them out.

Inside upholstered furniture, especially if you have any cats, cats tend to pull the backs of sofas and chairs loose, allowing a snake access it the inside.

Good luck!

The only thing I can suggest mate, is to put corn starch on the hard floor surfaces at night hoping she leaves you a trail showing where she is going. I had a friend who had one escape and this is what he did, with good out come. :D
Sorry mate i really hope you find her.

My friends bp got lost one time for 2 days. He is normally kept upstairs in my friends room. He managed to get all the way down to the basement, into the storage room and into a subwoofer.

My friend ended up having to cut the subwoofer open because his bp was afraid and latched onto somthing sharp inside the speaker. The snake suffered minor scrapes, he is doing quite fine now. Good luck man!

i searched my whole up stairs which is where shes kept. Do you think it would be likely for her to go down the stairs or down/in my toilets/plumbing? i checked the laundry room and bathrooms. I even bought a frozen mouse, thawed it, and set it out in a container along with a dark box on top of a heating mat. i do everything so cautiously in my house because im afraid of hurting her. I dunno what to do and it's driving me nuts! i just want to know shes safe.

Did you try the corn starch on the hard floor surfaces trick to see if shes been around? Man that sucks I would be freaking out as well. I don't think she would go down your waste pipes. But I can't say for sure.

I hope you find her soon, good luck

Check the smallest spaces you can find, they tend to like to hide in those. Have you searched your whole downstairs and middle floor too ? Dont worry, you'll find her. She probably couldnt have gotten outside unless you left windows (without screens) and doors open, and most definitely not in any drain pipes (probably wouldnt fit down a sink, wouldnt go into a toilet cuz of the water, cant get into the vents). Just keep looking man! Get someone else to help you for a second eye, if you can. Someone preferably who isnt terrified of snakes. Look under all your furniture as well as IN all your furniture (in between sofa cushions). I think they also tend to like darker spaces, they wouldnt like somewhere that is brightly lit.

Hope you find her dude, and keep us posted!

My other ball python gets out all the time because he has two locking doors in his screen lid on his 55gal. and one of locks is broken. I keep a jar of coins on the door to keep it shut but between all of the people that open his cage he gets out alot. I guess you would have to know my snake to believe that him getting out isn't a big deal. He's the coolest ball python i've ever met. I've never seen him ball up or get pissy, my cat and him are best friends and love to play together, he loves car rides and going to the beach, he takes naps with me, he's just the greatest snake ever! He's escaped at least 20 times and every time he just goes in the drawer under his tank and chills :)

Good to hear she was ok, long time to be lost tho :( Like mattchibi said, get some good locks to avoid this problem in the future. ones with keys or code so other people can't get in with out you knowing would be best.

MAke sure you let the snake settle back into its viv at the proper temps for a few days before feeding it, might get a regurge otherwise.
