The Nephrurus are adorable! Neat eyes on the spotted gecko. What's the species name for that one?

Thanks guys...

Seems to be a bit of interest on the spotted evil eyed geckos.

They are golden tailed geckos - Strophurus taenicauda

They are an interesting little arboreal species that make great display animals as they are "almost" diurnal. By that I mean they do not hide during the day like most geckos, they will happily sit out in the open perched on a twig just like in the pics. I provide them with small amounts of UVB as per their semi diurnal nature. In the wild they can be found basking in dappled sunlight.

They are about 13cm TL, during the day they sit quitely but at night they turn into absolute demons (specially around food). Feeding time is when these little guys really come into their own, they are abolutely voracious feeders and quite acrobatic. I have seen these guys hang on their back legs like bats and dropn onto crickets on the floor like missiles at full force.

Another interesting thing about these guys is when frightened like all of the Strophurus species, they secret a noxious sticky fluid from the tip of their tail as a defence mechanism. I don't know what it smells as it has never happened to me but have been told it's quite pungent. The golden tails smear the fluid on unlike their "spikey" cousins who actually squirt it out.

Ohhh almost forgot, they are available on your side of the pond (guess that's the most important bit hey lol)
