Alright got a friend stressing over his african house snake and i offered to ask on here for him.

He hasn't been eating for a few months, and according the owner IS getting "slimmer" It's an adult, not sure how old exactly. Few years. Male... Still acting normal.

I told him if he's acting normal and not losing too much weight then he's probably ok for now.

He's all worried about starvation, and is bringing up force feeding. Not needed yet I told him.

Anyhoo I know nothing about these snakes. Is it normal for House snakes (males) to go off food? Anything I can do or should be doing?

Thanks

What are the temps that he is keeping it at?

I read someplace ( not a clue where) but they need to be kept with a hot spot of 85-90f and a cool side down to 75-80. I remember seeing that these guys are pigs and will eat anything any time.

I'll have to ask... He knows what he's doing, not completely clueless like so many people i know. Has other snakes - garters, corns...

Ok I only asked simple questions seeing as I have no clue his level of knowledge... simple questions are often over looked. If you want us to help him we need to know more details about how it is being kept.

Finally got back to me.

He says the snake is kept at 75 degrees (24C).

He said "i turned down the heat for awhile, in fact i turned it off".

And, he ate a rat pinky today!

So we're good, but any more info like what he's doing wrong is welcome.
