What camera(s) do you use?
I'm looking for a new one and have my eyes on the Nikon Coolpix S8100 - a compact with serious macro and video - but I need to hear some cameras that you snake people use.
I mean, I can't get $800 camera but list it anyway!!

for 90% of my pictures, i use my cell phone (droid incredible, 8MP camera ) works nice, and uploads them automatically to photobucket.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi EOS. It comes with a 18-55mm lens, but you can buy tons of lenses for it. I think it's about $400 and I love it. I got an additional macro lens, Ultrasonic 180mm lens which is fantastic for reptile pics. I haven't taken any photos yet with it bc I'm at college and I left the camera at home (typical me). But I'm bringing it back from home next week so hopefully I'll get some good shots! It's very user friendly (I'm not a professional photographer, so I needed a camera that would do all the work for me) ;)
Honestly I use my iPhone 4 cam, it's great. I also have a cannon power shot Is s5, its also an amazing camera a really good one for a great price. You should check it out.

Thanks ill check those two out!
Another Canon Digital Rebel here. I got it about 10 years ago. Still works great.
I have been considering the new Rebels with Video, but don't have the extra cash at the moment.

I have used the Nikon S8100 in stores and have read a lot... It seems pretty darn good with macro and video for a compact digital...
I currently have a Olympus FE-20 I love it but macro and video is not it's strong points -- which is what I need.

I have a Fujifilm finepix s2950, It has good macro but tbh it's not very good. My mom has a Nikon D40 or something and it's really good. If you're looking for a cheap DSLR it's good.

I have the same Canon Rebel XTi that alessia has, and probably with the same 18-55 kit lense that I might be selling as well here shortly. However for all of my pictures for the past year I've been using an 18-250 tamron lense that quite simply, kicks ***.
I also have a canon powershot a540 that is a great little point and shoot that was my christmas present when I was in highschool.
here's my albums, anything after the albom IFO 2010 is using that setup. I've also got a flash and tripod for it.

Sorry haven't been on. Wireless problems as still don't have a computer. Makes it really inconvenient.

I use my Nikon D7000 dslr for most of my snake pics...
I just upgraded my point and shoot as well... I was looking at the nikon s8100 just like you but bang for buck I opted for the Samsung wb700. It takes better IQ than the s8100 and fas full manual controls if you want to get creative.

Hmm. Thanks I'll check that one out!
I found the s8100 cause it's got mad macro for a digital point and shoot... That's what I need most -- macro.

For the Canon Digital Rebel that a few of us on here have mentioned, you can buy a great macro lens for it. I have the ultrasonic 180mm and with it I can basically capture every scale on my snake's body. The good thing about having a camera like the Rebel is that you can use a normal SLR lens (that typically comes with it) and use it as an everyday camera, and the have different lenses for projects. I don't have any other point-and-shoot little cameras; I use this one for everything. Here a few that I just took now (literally 5mins ago, lol) of my Pika, who is tiny (he's about 6-7wks old) so you have an idea of how small he is. To take these I was less than a foot away. You can be really far away and still get awesome shots since it can act like a telescope in that sense. I'm not trying to sell you the camera :p But if it helps to see what this camera + lens can produce, here ya go: (Oh and this camera and the lens are a few years ago)

Exactly, it may be 10 megapixels, but the CCD (Camera sensor that collects the image) is unstable, I can take 3 pictures of the same thing and get 3 different hue/saturation photos.
