So I haven't been around much lately partly due to the new addition to the collection and trying to plan a wedding and work 6-7 days a week. Its been very hectic but on Friday the fiancé finally picked up her bearded dragon and first reptile. We've had the cage ready to go for about a month but we established a roach colony before we acquired the beardie. He/she is still just a little baby. Here are the few pics I have gotten so far. Enjoy!

Thanks. She really is (my fiancé gave him/her a girls name so I guess it's a she lol) The orange straps on her back is what made us decide on this one. Definitely a more chill lizard then the iguana is this little girl will just crawl right up your arm and sit on your shoulder while you do whatever you need.

An easy way to sex them is to look at the lower belly. 2 bumps= boy, 1 bump (or no bumps)= girl. Probably won't work till she's a little older though.

Wow if you compare the first few pics of him on the green leaves and then the more recent one you can really see how he's grown! still very cute!

alessia55 it is crazy how fast lizards grow I feel like every time I look at my iguana she is fatter and longer I love it its almost like having a kid you get a certain pride when you raise them from a baby.

Jenn they are so hard to walk away from I've always wanted one but just never actually got around to buying one then my fiancé said that it was one of the few reptiles she would own for herself so we picked him/her up.

^ I know I love that pic too. Beardies truly do have a personality IMO and they are just so chill.

That's about how big my two are that I got this weekend. Itty Bitty things.

My son named them both:
Male’s name is Zed (After wizard in Sword of Truth Series)
Female’s name is Terra (Named after my best friend Tara because she named her dog after me. She said she felt great joy and giggled every time she said, “Sit De Ann sit, that’s a good girl. Yes, I have twisted friends. lol)

Did you have any feeding issues? I do with Zed. I bought mini-mealworms (cause petco didn't have any pinhead crickets) and the first day he wouldn't eat. Yesterday I found another local pet store and bought 150 pinheads. I have finely chopped collard greens, papaya, spaghetti squash, and squished raspberries and blue berries in a glass dish in their viv.

I have a separate container to feed them in so I don’t have to try and find all the crickets. For me, it is easier to remove the dragons from a feeding enclosure than the crickets from the viv.

Terra ate like there was no tomorrow...cute little bugger. (I feed them one at a time just in case the female becomes abusive while eating…yes I am goofy, but I don’t like to take chances.) Terra ate her greens (fresh collard) and tasted the others but wasn’t interested beyond that.

I placed Zed in the cricket enclosure (I have 2, one for housing them and one for feeding) and he still wouldn't eat. So I squished a few pinheads until their insides came outside (trying not to be gross) and hand fed him one at a time with tweezers. It worked; he ate, but still not very many. I lightly dusted his with vitamin and apparently one got more than the rest because he actually spit it out. So I had to rinse it off and try again and then he ate. It was interesting watching him spit out the cricket, reminded me of my son when he was a baby.

Both are very docile and the Zed will run to us to be held. The female is feisty and opens her mouth at first to warn us off. Every time she does it I think, "Aww! How cute, my finger nail is bigger than you are...go ahead sugar, bite me, I don't mind." lol

What kind of plant do you have in the enclosure? (It looks fake, is it?)
How do you have the Day and Night heating setup?
Do you mist her with water to drink? Or does she actually drink from the water bowl?
I am asking so many questions because these are my first. I have read everything I can find on them but I always want to know more.

She eats like there is no tomorrow wether it be roaches, crickets, wax worms, or meal worms. She doesn't eat much for greens but you can tell she picks at them a little bit. I have the lights on a timer that I already had for my iguana I think its made by zoo med and works perfectly. We don't have any night heat on her as the room she's in stays between 75-78 F. Yes it is just a fake cactus that we got from petco and she absolutely loves sleeping in it she sleeps there every night. She actually drinks out of her water bowl and hangs out in it occasionally. She is my first beardie as well but we did plenty of research and having a roach colony is a huge money saver I suggest starting one they are very simple to maintain make no noise and don't stink.

I don't do roaches. I have a cricket colony started. I love the sound they make so no issues with noise, Plus...Right now they are in my son's room (hehe). I have a big house so if all else fails I can put them in the basement.
