I received a call from a man in the city saying he had a 6' Burmese python that he needed to get rid of. I told him I did not go into the city, but if he would bring it to me I would take it. He made arrangements to have the snake dropped off at my job, by a friend of his. His friend was suppose to meet me at 7 pm, but never showed up until 8 pm and I had already went home. My job called to say that someone has the snake and they could not take it , so I had to make another trip back to pick up the snake. When I arrived the snake was in a small container, to small for a 6' python or I thought. In fact it was a 6' Albino Burmese Python, but it was missing an eye and was very skinny. It looked like it had not eaten in years. Good thing the old owner of the snake was not there or I would have had to hurt him. When I got him home I gave him water and he drank about 1/2 gal. I thought he was drowning himself, because he kept his face in the water for about 15 minutes. Then he climbed into the water bowl and stayed there all night. Today I had to tube feed him, because he did not want anything to do with a rat. The snake is so sweet. I hope that it recovers, he will make a good addition to my shows. I named him Pirate, because he only has one eye and loves the water. Here are some pictures of him.

Oh wow, He is beautiful. I am glad he has a home with you and is out of whatever conditioned living space he was in. I don't understand how people do that to animals of any kind. I am glad that the person was smart enough to get rid of the snake to someone that could take care of it properly.

Poor snake, its sad how some people can have a snake and see it diminish like that over time and not feel bad about it. Happy he's in a great home now and I too can't wait to see recovery pics of ole Pirate:)

Being we run a snake rescue, we get free snakes all the time. Most of the snakes are in good condition and then we adopt them out to people who really want a snake. Unfortunately in todays society a lot of people view animals as something they get and keep until they get tired of it. Then they get rid of it and move on to something else.

I keep coming back to this picture, it really sticks in my mind, not only how deprived he was, but how thankful he must be to be with a new owner who cares for him.

Thats great you took in Pirate he looks so bad.

I took in my burm from a owner that did not know what they was doing she had a cut done her back like they gave her a meal that was just too big. Wish people would take care of there pets better if you cant dont get them.
