I had always thought I had a thread for him, but after searching I found that I never did give this guy a pictures thread, so here it is.

Kane was in the possession of a young lady who had no idea what she was doing, she surrendered the snake and he has been living with us ever since (5 years).

I got very lucky, he will eat mice or rats, thawed or live.. he's not fussy at all, if it's a rodent, he will eat it.

Just a bit longer than a yard stick.

But he's thick, downs medium rats without a problem.

Yeah, I did miss out on raising him, he was an adult when she gave him up.

It was for the best, she had him in a fish tank with a screen top, sitting on two stereo speakers.

Her and her crack buddies would sit up all night playing loud music and partying.

No hide, an IR brooding lamp for heat, the water bowl was nasty and there were several sheds laying in the cage, along with about 3 months worth of turds.

I don't get it. were talking about one of the easiest snakes on earth to maintain, and douchebags like that can't even handle minimum basic care.

He's an aggressive feeder, so much so that I would never think of reaching anywhere within several feet of him when he can smell rodent.

One time I was tong feeding, my hands were warmer than the rat on the tongs.. not nice.

Love him!!!! Sooo glad he is no longer with his previous owner, your description of his living conditions really P***ed me off!!!! The vibrations from those speakers had to be a nightmare for him, not to mention the filthy conditions of his tank. He looks fantastic!!! Love the pics!!!

"snakes don't have ears."

I get told this by my smart a** friends when they hear me baby-talking to my snakes, lol! (I'll admit I probably look silly doing it).

...but on a more serious note, the vibrations from the music must've made that bp's life an absolute hell. Glad he's with ya!

I keep my bass booster off, and rarely listen to music over my stereo. Mostly I just use headphones. I try not to cause any vibrational noises for very long.

Oh how I wish that was true for me.

Our daugter will whine until she gets a least a short dose of chart music.

Is it bad to play music around your BP's environment ? I never blast it, and if I do I try to leave the room. I just dont have any other space to put her tank other than in my room for now.

Also, I think I did a good thing taking Morticia out of her previous owners home.. they used to smoke tons of cigarettes in the basement where her and 10 other snake tanks resided. Definitely not the best for them >< but at least i saved the BP. Bunch of corns still down there :s

Listening to reasonable volumes is fine. Leave the sub-woofer off.

Its the low stuff that bothers snakes.

WOW…I don’t even know what to say to that. I placed Sasha in the office because it is the least noisy room (No radios, just PC’s) besides the bedrooms upstairs. I didn’t want her locked away upstairs because I was concerned that she may not get as much attention up there (Out of sight out of mind). I also think that her being in the office played a role in her skittish eating habits when I first got her. Evie & Diesel were always peeking at her when I was trying to feed her, jumping on the ledge of her stand etc, just being nosy & noisy cats in general. My son & husband slamming doors, and I swear it seemed they were always doing it when it was feeding time! That is one of the reason I started taking Sasha upstairs to my room to soak & eat. I can lock everyone out so she could relax.

No hide, an IR brooding lamp for heat, the water bowl was nasty and there were several sheds laying in the cage, along with about 3 months worth of turds.

EW. I am anal about how clean Sasha’s viv is. The first layer is Hartz training pads. I love how they absorb waste and prevent it from spreading. I can see exactly where she did her business and make sure that area of moss is completely removed. On top the pads I have 3 layers of Griprite liners so she doesn’t stay in physical contact with her waste.

Plus it makes clean-up super easy. No scrubbing, just roll up the liners & pads, mist with cleaner and wipe. Then I take the liners and soak in bleach water, rinse super good, hang to dry. I have 2 sets of liners so I can line her viv with clean set, let used set dry and put away for next time.

aww! some people should not breed. for that matter, a LOT of people should not breed *lol* Anyway, you got lucky he's a good eater! We adopted a 10yr old male ball normal and haven't gotten him to eat yet. It's been since late July, I think. He's not really losing any weight, but i digress...yours is a beauty!

I just don't understand how this many horrible people can exist! it seems like every cute snake thread i see has a "I just got him/her from ____ owner who had no idea how to care for it, abused it, etc etc" Poor snakes! :(

Some people really shouldn't be allowed to have pets (nevermind 3 kids, i guess thats how there end up being so many of these people...)

Impulse purchases, they think it would be "scary cool" to have a big snake or lizard to show off to their party buddies.

This same problem exists with other animals too, way too many scumbags go looking for the meanest nastiest dogs they can get, just to intimidate their drug buddies, then the dog breed gets a bad rap over it.
