Welcome to the forum! Can't wait to see pics. I don't know how long you've had your sand boa but its common for snakes to not eat for a few weeks after getting a new home. Keep us posted.

I will definitely post pics when he is established.
Any tips on feeding a baby sand boa? He is about one month old. Last night I tried "braining" a f/t pinky and putting it on a plastic dish in his cage overnight. I showed it to him, then left it alone. :/ the pinky is still there this morning.
Any advice? I just want to make sure my little guy is settling in ok.

Welcome to the forum :D
It's completely natural for them to be uninterested in food the first couple weeks after moving..
Can't wait till we can see some pics :D

Whilst we would all love to see pics it is important that the snake goes undisturbed between feeding attempts, stress like being handled will stop it eating anyway. Only try to feed once every week and in between attampts do nothing apart from spot clean and top up waterbowl.
If you post your setup details, temps, substrate, etc etc etc then othe KSB owners will be able to help you out with anything that might be slightly off that could stop the snake eating also.

Hey there, welcome!!! Young Sand Boas are known to be difficult to get started immediately on f/t, so you might have to start him on live for the first few feedings, before switching over to f/t. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask:)
And as Rob said, it is very important for a new animal to feel secure in its new surroundings, so i would definitely wait a week before offering food again.
Was Lunar eating for his previous owner before you purchased him?

Hey as for my setup, he is in a plastic snake enclosure (approx 12x18) in aspen bedding. A small heat pad on one side (one of those zoo med ones that keeps a constant heat) then a bowl with a little bit of water on the cool side. And some fake plants on the warm side (more to make his cage look nicer, but he likes to crawl under them) and a small hide in the middle-left of his cage.
I keep his cage under my bed but towards the side of my bed away from the wall. I did this b/c I live in a college dorm where we hold strange hours and I read that the artificial light at strange hours could disturb him. My room also does not get much natural light (I'm in a basement room...meh, sucks.) but I read that this does not matter since they like to stay in the substrate anyways. Does it seem that the enclosure is set up properly?
Also, I found a place that sells live pinkies and am going to try to feed him that on weds.
Any suggestions on how to feed it so he eats it?

If you don't have a thermostat you should get one ASAP

Hey guys... so I'm posting on behalf of lunar53 (who's my cousin) since she's busy and not in the habit of checking the forum yet. We're getting concerned because now she has tried feeding f/t, daytime, nighttime, overnight, in cage, out of cage, in tupperware in cage, and live. Has refused all. It's pretty much a newborn-ish, and weighs 7 grams last we checked (about 3 weeks ago). She mentioned to me that his tail and his nose looks a bit "dull", but that the rest of his body looks bright and normal... so we don't know if this means he's going into shed. We're obviously playing a waiting game here, and she's going to keep trying to feed him every week. But we got a bit more concerned when he didn't take the live pinkie. He is still active and explores his cage during the day, etc. so he doesn't have any signs of illness. Should we be worried or keep waiting it out? He'll eventually eat...right? He won't starve himself to death...right? Would appreciate some reassurance

does she have a thermostat?
she said there was heat but never indicated of a control.
Also did this snake eat before she got it?
If so how did the breeder get it to eat and what did he feed it?
Is it in a quiet place and being left alone besides offering food once a week?

She doesn't have a thermostat yet. She'll probably get one as soon as she can.
Also did this snake eat before she got it?
Yes- the breeder we got him from said he had eaten 3 or 4 times already... which makes me a bit suspicious because when I checked with a different sand boa breeder he said 7g was the weight of a newborn, not one that had already eaten 3-4 times. On a side note, I got my albino ball from the same guy, and he's eating fine, healthy as an ox. Also, the breeder is a friend of someone I know, and apparently has a good rep.
how did the breeder get it to eat and what did he feed it?
I'm not sure, but like most breeders, he was probably feeding in the cage. He was feeding live (which we tried).
Is it in a quiet place and being left alone besides offering food once a week?
Yes- she's only taken him out one or two times for 1 or 2mins max and since he's not eating, she's left him alone completely except for feeding attempts. The enclosure is in a low-traffic area with no obvious reasons to be stressed.
...I just hope he eats soon :(

Having no thermostat could be partial cause of it not eating do to it being to hot...

With no thermostat the temps are not going to be consistent, if the snake doesnt have consistent temps it cant digest and therefore it wont bother taking food.
Get EVERYTHING in the husbandry right and THEN try feeding it.
