As some of you will have read in my other posting my arboreal viv is failing and i have someone coming to hopefully fix it on sun day.

Whilst he is working on the viv/waiting for the sealant to dry we need to rehome my GTP and JCP. For the GTP i still have his baby faunarium which for a temporary measure will be fine.

However my JCP is approx 4-5ft long and much bulkier, stronger and more active than the GTP. I know for transporting people use pillowcases, just wondering what the maximu time you would be happy leaving a snake in a pillowcase (at correct temps) would be?

I am thinking of getting a plastic tub should the jcp need housing longer than expected, what is the smallest dimensions i can get away with for short term measures? Is it okmif the tub is not see through?

Any other suggestions for temporary housing also welcome. I have no idea how long silicon takes to "cure" before it ks safe to replace the snakes?

People ship snakes in bags like that overnight I would say like maybe 12 hours? Probably more.

at a decent room temperature i'd feel safe using a pillow case for 24 hours rob

i have found its the smell that takes a while to disperse when using silicon (24 to 48 hours in a ventilated room)

i would use a tub that is 3 times the legnth of the snake when its curled up (like those liquiroce strip circles you get)

i would put a small heat mat under it

that way the snake takes up approxomately a third of the tub floor.this gives it plenty room to thermoregulate mate

i would happily use the tub for as long as its needed

you will get a decent tub for around a tenner out places like the pound shop

i keep a tub like that for my quarantines, having no problems shedding, eating etc over a 3 month period

i usually put a perch in it running legnth wise from side to side.if you use wood all you have to do is cut the perch to the correct legnth.i hold it in place with a self tapping screw through the side of the tub directly into the wood

i have used tubs 6 to 8 inch high without perches again with no trouble shedding eating etc

cheers shaun
