How long does it usually take a carpet to get acclimated to a new vivarium??? The temp and the humidity is spot on. I've had him for 3 days now and it's time for him to feed, but he doesn't want to have anything to do with the rat I'm feeding him. I'm guessing this is because he could be stressed out from being in a new environment??? Any help?
Thanks
Ray

Was he eating rats prior to you acquiring him? In any case he can easily go another week or two without eating.

I would just wait a week and try again. When it gets hungry enough it will eat.

re humidity
carpet pythons have no specific humidity requirements
re temps
whats your hot and cool end temps ?
how old is he ?
what size of tank do you have him in ?
make sure he has plenty hides, fake plants and some branches, this will help him feel more secure
i'd leave him 7 days only going near him to change his water once in the 7 days
i would heat the rat up with a hair dryer, giving extra heat to the head
then puncture the skull 2 or 3 times,i use the point of a pair of scissors.
once grey liquid starts to seep out the puncture holes, give the head and puncture holes a quick extra heat with the hairdryer
then offer on a pair of tongs, making the prey item jiggle about as if it were still alive
please let us know how you get on
cheers shaun
