I'm building an enclosure out of melamine and I wanted some of your opinions. I've wanted an IJ for awhile now but it has just become a possibility. The enclosure is going to be slightly bigger than a 40 breeder. Will it be happy even if it's not very tall? Thanks, also I'm not positive what animal I want to get, I don't really want a BP or corn. I'm thinking strongly about a python or boa. Can't be over 7 ft though. I was thinking Hog Island Boa or an IJ. Shoot me some suggestions will ya?

I forgot the dimensions of a 40 breeder, can you tell us the dimensions of the cage? As far as the height for an IJ, they are more arboreal at a younger age and then stay on the ground more as they turn into adults. They will still use perches and shelves as adults if available. Its not a definite requirement for them to have a lot of height but my personal preference for carpets is because they will use every available spot in there cage. One day they'll do the whole hide all day and you never see them. Then the next couple days they will bask on a perch out in the open. They don't need a lot of height but like I said, I personally prefer it. I have no experience with boas so I won't try to go there.

I think GTPs are too advanced for me. Not to mention expensive. Plus I like to interact with my animals and GTPs are to fragile to handle. Would love one someday though.

I can respect that,
We do get to interact with her, it just has to be on her terms

if you aren't going to have much height I would go with a boa, how about a BRB?

Actually disregard this thread, I was going to get an IJ instead of breeding but I'm going to breed.

no offence, but you seriously need to take a step back, enjoy what you are keeping now, and forget about anything else for a while.
at the moment you are like a kid in a sweet shop (candy store), your excited and you want everything, this is going to lead to bad decisions.

I have everything figured out for the most part, I know the precautions and I'm taking them. I feel like I can do this just as well as a 20 year old if not better. The only problem I have encountered so far is what to do with the babies, and I'm sorting that out right now.
PS. *you're excited, not your.

I still agree with what is said above as i've stated earlier we've all been your age and we all know what it is like and you do need to realize that this is a lot bigger then you think it is. And also even 20 years olds have issues breeding and dealing with babies, even experts have issues and problems.
