Hello! as you may had read from the title of this post, I'm actually from Costa Rica. I've been a fishkeeper for a loong time, I also kept some Rieppeleon brevicaudatus before, ATM i'm keeping a baby Epicrates maurus, she is a costarrican Rainbow Boa, I got her from a snake-house near my house...
Here at Costa Rica snake keeping is HIGHLY forbidden if you don't have the proper paperwork, and you actually can't sell snakes at all, so this snake-house is the only place with the permission to sale snakes, and they actually sell a very good quality stock. My Epicrates maurus is actually an F1 breed from a wild caught snake... Here at my country you can find snakes almost everywhere, Boa constrictor imperator can be found in most long grass places or on rainforest... But well enough of talking about Costa Rica... I entered the forum looking for people who shared the same passion I have with herpethology. I'm an aviation student and DIE for rock... so that would be it for an introduction!

Here's a photo of my baby:

Hello and welcome to the forum
Thank you! and Hello!!

Welcome to the forum! You have a beautiful boa.

Thanks! This is actually my first boa! You can't find much exotic species here in my country so we don't have much to pick from... and taking reptiles from their natural environment if BIG PROBLEM here too... Even though, some people keep pythons and other snakes such as corns, but illegally...

beautiful CRRB, I just got my BRB, love they way yours looks

Thanks! Costarrican Rainbows actually don't have the same colorful patterns as BRB, but they are VERY docile snakes, mine haven't bit me yet, not even tried! And they lose their patterns when bigger, so i'll end up with a full brown-bodied boa!

Beautiful rainbow boa!!!! I have two myself!

Nice! Does someone here on the forum have an Epicrates maurus too?

Here's another pic for you to see! :)

Thank you a lot! I actually noticed that the first time I entered the forum! Lot's of Epicrates keepers here! That is awesome! And her markings are awesome! Too bad she is going to lose them once she gets bigger :(

Some say that CRRB are one of the most docile RB, something I've noticed is that she is a very eager eater she just LOVES to eat! I have a video where I can show you this! :) and well you ask and therefore you receive!

Here's a pic of the vivarium, ATM she's on a glass vivarium, remember I live in the country where Epicrates are native, so actually there is no much need for me to struggle with climate factors... HUM is always high and a simple light bulb does it as for TEMP...

I have two Epicrates maurus , commonly known as CRB's (Columbian Rainbow Boas)....On the forum somewhere I have a pic of my juvenile male (Morpheus) and baby female (Niobe). My male is darkening up and his markings are more difficult to see. My little female still has hers.

Thank you for the comment! That is actually a Altolamprologus compressiceps Fire Fin, there are like 20 of those here at my country...

Very nice snakes you have! I'm actually planning to buy a male CRRB in some time, so I can have a pair... Do you find any difference between costarrican and colombian?

Gotta ask, is there a guard on your light? Not sure if i can see one. :)

Actually there isn't a guard on the light, but I made it very difficult for the snake to actually reach the light bulb... I've been paying very careful attention and she never reaches the light or gets close to it...

Sounds good, but id.make it impossible instead of difficult.. they tend to explore when your sleeping, then one day you might find her wrapped on the bulb n a little crispy. Youd be amazed where snakes can get... my friend lost a corn for a month, found her in a cupboard 6 foot off the floor with a table 3 ft below it. :D

Oh! wow!, well, I've heard of many crazy snake stories! But actually this lamp I'm using it doesn't let the snake to coil around it, and during night time the heat is coming from another source! :)
