Depends on what kind of carpet you want(jungle, ij, coastal, jag, etc). It also depends on what you personally look for in a snake. If you want an awesome ij jag then you could go to acreptiles. If you want a jungle that is black and yellow with a lot of tipping then look up Andrew Hare. If you want pure locality stuff, look up Nick Mutton of Inland Reptile. Will Leary, Will Bird, and Morelia Trophy Club, Headhunter Reptiles, all producing awesome animals. There are so many breeder producing amazing snakes that it is nearly impossible to say one is better than the other. Just look up some breeders because most have pics of their breeders and then you should decide what line you want. I could think one line is the best in the world and you could not be impressed with that same line. I would just recommend trying to look up as many breeders as you can and see what you like best. It all comes down to personal preference.

Hey guys,
Very true it would depend on what you are looking for.
I'm leaning towards high yellows with reduced patterns.I've been looking at anthony's carpets for some time and plan on picking up one of his offspring from son of bullwinkle, the reason I ask is I'm interested in seeing what other breeders are out there, however google yields only acreptiles site and one or two others I saw that definitely shouldn't be popping up on google search from what I saw in quality of patterning on their clutches.
I've been hounding kingsnake.com as well looking for any high yellows and the only one I've seen so far was a male.

Thanks for that Shaun... I was intrigued by the moniker. How does a breeder qualify to have their specimens called "trophy".... Is it all from the original morelia trophy club bloblines?

By trophy they usually are talking about Jungles with super bright Yellow and really deep Black to them. The parents have really bright color that doesn't fade with ages like with the average Jungle Carpets. They will hold their color a lot better with age, so they call them trophy. There's a article in Nov,2010 Reptiles magazine on page 26 called "Take Home The Trophy". It talk about picking a trophy Jungle Carpet. Article by John Battaglia
From the article 3 things to up your chances of getting a trophy.
1. Make sure the Sire and Dam Trophy jungles themselves.
2. Have they produced trophy Jungles in the past? Ask to see pictures of prior offspring from years past with the same sire and dam.
3. "Is the seller an established, reputable breeder with a proven track record? Because the little jungle carpets you are buying are all "potentials", they are only as good as the word of the person selling them."
This also applies to other snake as well.

Thanks Chuck...
Interesting parameters there in what a trophy jungle is...
Going by that I would have to say though that no hatchling to yearling JCP would deserve the moniker of trophy as the ontogenic change is not complete until their adult (maybe even up to 5 years). It is not until the 3-5 year mark where JCPs generally start the downward decline in brightness. You would not be able to tell if they are actually going to hold their colour, the varriance in carpet clutches is outstanding even if the parents are high quality yellows in the 10th year of life it does not mean that all of the progeany will not muddy in two years...
I'm not bringing these breeders down or the trophy jungles it's just something that i think needs to be taken into consideration when paying for a higher price on something with a moniker.....
