Where were you, and what were you doing?
I was walking out the door to go to work, There was going to be a special on TV, so I quickly turned on the television so I could program the VCR.
I turned the set on just in time to watch the second plane slam into the towers live as it happened.
As a resident of New York, I was horrified at what I just witnessed, then NBC started flipping out, and then quickly cut to Washington to show the damage to the pentagon.
Shortly after the news reports of flight 93 going down in Pennsylvania, I realized that we were under a full attack, what's next.
The towers collapsed.
I called my customers and cleared my appointment list for the day.
We live 20 miles from a runway approach, even though we never hear a plane, I can always look up and see a few preparing for final approach.
Not that afternoon, the only planes overhead were fighter jets.. There is an air force base roughly 70 miles from here, and when they mobilized my place was right in the flight path to NYC....

I was getting ready for work when the phone rang. When I picked up the phone my slightly odd friend (thinks aliens are coming) yelled "America is under attack". Being that I was running late for work, I told him I didn't have time for his crap, hung up the phone and walked out the door.
By the time I got to work, it was all over the news, the second tower had been hit but it was not yet a "known terrorist attack" I worked at the vets office and we had the radio tuned into CBC, and followed it all day.
Of course when I got home I had to call my friend and apologise to him for that morning, since he was actually talking about something that really happened, rather than aliens landing!!!

I was 18yrs old going for a drive to see my mom and had the radio in my car tuned to 107.3 waaf the Hill man morning show. They are big on insane jokes. I heard them talk about what happened to the first tower and I thought it was a joke. When I got to my moms work they where all standing around watching the TV and crying. I joined in... sat still not speaking for a good hour with tears streaming down my face. I will never forget the feeling in the air that day. Driving home I felt as if I was dreaming.

I was 10 years old and on my way to school when I heard it on the radio in my dads car. When I got to school all the tv's were on the news and I got there right as the second plane hit. It was a crazy day. I decided that day I was going to join the Marines but I ended up with Crohn's disease so I'm unable to fight for my/our country.

10 years ago today, i was at work, starting to put together the Christmas trees and decorations for the trim-a-tree department. I remember laughing and talking with my friend Tony, when all of a sudden one of the area sales managers, Bob, came running up and said that a plane had flown into one of the towers. When we got to the break room to listen to the news, the second plane had hit, and the pentagon had also been hit. We were all stunned by the news and realized the country was under attack.
When i left work that day, i remember just sitting in my car, with my radio on, just crying, heartsick at all the innocent lives lost, Mothers, Fathers, sons, daughters, etc who had lost loved ones.
We will never forget that day, no matter how many years pass.

I was in my 4th grade science class when the principle came over the intercom and told all the teachers to turn on their TVs because there was a national emergency. I didn't really understand what happening til the second plane hit. We saw it happen live, then it was apparent that something was wrong. I definitely appreciate everyone that gave up their lives that day to help others. A day that won't be forgotten.

I was at work, someone said they heard a plane had hit the WTC, we figured it was a light aircraft accident, then someone said a second plane had hit. The only TV we had access to was in my bosses RS4, so we watched the footage on a tiny screen with pretty crappy picture, but even with that I remember just being in complete shock. I was like watching a movie, none of us could believe that it was real.

I was at home in bed when my sister called and told me to turn the TV on channel 4. I did and saw replays of the first tower being hit and automatically wondered, what movie is this? and why my sister thought it was so important to wake me up.. then I realized it was real and the second tower went. I will never forget even if Im on the other side of the states how horrifying it was to see them people jumping to thier deaths...
:-( RIP so sorry for those who lost loved ones :-(
I was in 8th grade. I didn't find out about it until 5th period, my science teacher announced to the class that the World Trade Center was gone.

I was only 9 and in 4th grade. I remember seeing my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. McKee crying as she watched the TV and talked to her fellow staff member(the other was specialized for autistic kids and was always there to supervise the ones in our class). I think she may of called some friends or family on the school phone as well.
I recall glancing at the TV and seeing two smoking towers... but I didn't really understand. I didn't even know what the World Trade Towers were or what significance they held. I was extremely confused, but could tell it was something important. I just didn't understand why it was so important.
The day went on, I went home, I remember walking into Daddy's room and seeing it on his big TV on his dresser. I was, once again, so very confused and remembered thinking,"Wait... It was on TV at school... but why is it on TV at granny's place? Why are they interested in it, too?"
Ahhh childhood... I didn't understand a thing </3
I remember I was so bummed Mrs. McKee didn't read her Harry Potter books at the end of class that day. Thinking back, if I understood, that should have been the very least of my concerns. :c

i was looking after a friends country cottage while he was away
i made some lunch turned the tv on just in time to see the 2nd plane hit the towers live
i honestly could not take in what i was seeing
my brain could not comprehend what my eyes were showing it
i thought how twisted can people be,that they would go to all that planning and training to kill normal day to day human beings.folk out trying to support their familys, pay the rent, putting food on tables a few presents for the kids etc
even to this day watching the towers collapse leaves me with a feeling of disbelief.....!!!
i watched a tv documentry about all the twins who lost their twin in 9/11
i think it was 49 twins lost their twin in 9/11,some were identical twins.
i could not help but think how hard that it would have been for the family.having an identical looking/sounding person still alive and walking around.a living breathing reminder of the lost family member.it was such a sad programme.
cheers shaun

I was in 7th grade, in CPR class, the principle came over the intercom and told every teacher to turn to the news on the classroom TVs. We turned on shortly after the second tower was hit and we just sat in silence, watching. About 15 minutes later we turned off the TVs and were told that we would be informed of deployments. As we finished that class and walked back to homeroom the principle again came over the intercom and told the teachers to turn the TVs on. The second tower to be hit had just collapsed. We watched again as the talking heads told us what was going on. The TV was switched off shortly before the first tower hit collapsed. All I could think about was what I could do to help, knowing there was nothing.

Me and a buddy where tearing down a old two story farm house. For a couple that where going to build a new house on the land. We didn't know anything about it till we went into town for lunch. Both gas stations had lines of cars backed up for blocks. The price was $4.00 a gallon. We were like WTF. When we went into the restaurant the had a radio on and told us what happen and that U.S. was under attack. We headed straight home.
Me and my wife where to get married on the Sept. 14th. We were going to postpone it, then my mom talked us into going ahead with it. So Wednesday will be our 10 Anniversary.

I was on my way to class in the 6th grade, worrying my mother was going to get called in (reservist). Little did I know a few years later I myself would go.....
Pretty messed up they FORCED all us little kids, all the way down to 4th grade, to watch people jump to their deaths. Unbelievable school faculty.

I was very weepy watching the 10 year specials on History channel yesterday.
All of the emotions I felt that day temporarily returned.
As a resident of New York, This was very close to home for me.

I bet it was. The way I see it, it should be close to all of us, no matter where or what country we live in. It wasn't just New York, or the USA that was attacked in my eyes, it was the whole of western civilization.
They don't just hate the USA, they hate the entire way of life that we all share here in North America. My mom likes to think were safe because we live in Canada and everyone loves Canada and it's people. Not true tho, after 911 there were many terrorist threats made right here in Canada. I truly believe that had they "gotten away with" the WTC attack, and if the USA didn't react so quickly, there would have been many other attacks all over North America.
