I have no idea what kind it is. My wife and I have been looking at localities for Colorado and baby vs. adult pics arn't striking any resemblance.

I have tried feeding it very small feeder minnows bu ti think the water dish was too big and he couldn't see them. I have since put in a much smaller water dish and have offered some small crickets. Don't let me down Infernalis!! :D

Hmm, to me it doesn't really look like a garter. Lets wait and see what Wayne thinks though.

I have another garter atm as well (pics later) that we caught it is a checkered garter and a guy at the Denver reptile show had a bunch and told me there is no way I found that in Colorado Springs because they arn't native..... ffs its like the 3rd one I have found.
Ps. the checkered loves fish!!

lol I stared at it as it sat in a bush for quite awhile before I felt confident enough that it wasn't venomous, Its head just didn't seem like it could be. Back in Minnesota I wouldn't think twice about grabbing anything but I am out of my element in CO.

It almost looks like a baby Bull Snake. Other possibilities are Baby Rat or Glossy snakes. There is a how to ID snakes in the US, section on my website. It goes by scale counts. Since you have the snake and can count the scales you might want to try it. Go to Home - Snakeman's Snake Shows (http://www.jerrythesnakeman.com).

I have a black racer, raised from birth.. want pics?
BTW - try feeding a small lizard like an anole.. My baby racer would only eat anoles.

correct on both...
In a couple days after I let my facial hair come back, I'll take a pic.
I'm often told I look like Hugh Laurie

Then you should change your display picture to you with facial hair next to a picture of his.

I only have 100 pixels to work with, I have a ton of cool things I would love to use, like Roger from American Dad, but I can't get them small enough and still look good.

Holy crap it sure is a baby black racer! online pics look spot on! Thanks! Also I am glad to read that they eat mice and rats instead of exclusivly anoles. Anoles arn't even wild here.

Racers are very rewarding captives.

Black Racers are one of my favorite snakes. http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/general-colubrid-forum/88145-radio-tracking-northern-black-racers-pictures.html I have some pics in that thread of Northern Black Racers.

I wish I could get him to eat a extra small pinky :P He sees me from across the room and buzzes his tail. should I hold it more to mabye calm it down or just keep offering pinkies? I also put it in a closed dish (with air holes) and the food item if the zombie dance doesn't work.
