Trinity is my 3 month old Brazilian Rainbow boa I got about a month ago now. I got her from Twin Cities Reptiles. When I got her she was only eating live pinkies but now she eats f/t mice hoppers. She is my first snake and after getting a snake I am so grateful my mom said no for all those years when I was younger and definitely would not have been able to care properly for a snake. Here's a bunch of pictures. From day one of getting her to now.

Beautiful snake and cool pictures. I always love how much their color change with just different lighting.

I know and all of these pics were taken with my iPhone 4 I'm very impressed at how well her colors still show up with a cell phone cam. One of these days I'm going to get my moms Nikon DSLR though and get some real good pics.

I know I can't believe its been that long either. And now I have an empty 10g aquarium so I'm thinking about a corn snake for that enclosure lol.

New pics (but still done with a cell phone) I really have to get a real camera so I can capture her true beauty.

Awww~ She's absolutely gorgeous! I just adore BRBs, they're always so stunning in color and pattern.~

A Hypo BRB was my first snake, too, though I'm fairly certain a child could handle a corn snake fine... maybe not feeding, though. A BRB, though? Too much high maintenance for a child, and I was warned that it may be too much for a beginner snake keeper, but I had previous humidity experience with my iguana and malaysian gecko.

Well... if you want to be technical, a corn snake was my first, but she died within a week of owning her, some kind of mental defect of breeding, so I was really bummed I was dealt a 'bad card'. I wasn't discouraged from my dream, though. :D

Good for you for sticking with it! And, of course, for choosing a Brazilian for the re-trial! :D

Always happy to help a Brazilian owner, even if the baby was not from me. :D How is the youngster doing, by the way?

Got some pics just before she went into blue last week. The shed measured at 30" with no rips or tears. Is there an equation to figure out length of snake from the length of the shed? I will post the fresh skin pics in a day or so after she digests.

not really, I just put a yard stick in the corner of the counter and make sure mine can only go in one direction, it'll give you a rough estimate, yours looks a bit bigger than mine though, and mine is 20 inches, I didn't measure the last shed though.

Some say to take 10-15% off the length of the shed, others will say that there is no ocmparison between shed length and snake length.

I think it can vary too widely to have one hard and fast rule. The condition of the shed (new/old, intact/ripped), species of snake, and age of specimen can all make a big difference.

Thanks! She has been growing like crazy its so much fun to watch things grow. Today she ate like never before the instant I opened the cage she was trying to strike the mouse. I've been feeding her every 6-7 days and I think it might be time to move up prey sizes she took a hopper and pinkie both this week and last (I had 2 extra pinks to get rid of). What do you usually jump to after mouse hoppers Cliff? Should I try switching her over to small rats? I'm going to be placing an order on rodent pro since rat prices around here are $5 for a medium rat so I want to order something a little bigger for Trinity as well! I can't justify paying that much every week to feed my BP when online you can get them for like half the price.

Order in quantity, then, or shipping will kill you.

Nismo89
10-13-11, 02:53 AM
Oh I was planning on it thats why I'm thinking up one prey size since I think she can take it I'm just not totally sure and I'm getting 1 or 2 more BP so I will need plenty of rats.

Go to the pic you want to post in pghotobucket and hover the mouse over the image, a box will appear with a number of links - you need to copy the IMG code and post the whole thing into your thread on here, it will then bring the pic over when you submit it.

Update: Trinity has been doing great I got her switched over to rats no problem a few weeks ago and she's been thriving. I still have her in a 20L aquarium with a plexi top but she is getting a boaphile 4x2 as soon as I get my tax refund in the coming weeks. Just a question I hardly ever see her out and climbing and I have a branch running from one side to the other with fake leaves covering it so would it be necessary to get her a 17.5" tall viv or would it be safe to go with the 11.5" tall. I want to give her as much room as possible but with my rep room only having a 6' tall ceiling getting a 17.5" really limits how many cages I can have in one stack. I'll get some new pics later on.

Glad to hear she's well!

You'll be fine with a shorter cage. Brazilians' interest in climbing seems to decease as they age, and adults are very terrestrial.

Meh, I was kind of disappointed with the whole DDK thing... also IDK where I stand with the whole Deb-Dexter romance, but the ending of the last season was RIDICULOUSLY good. Haha ok, enough Dexter talk. I vote for "Ice" from the ice truck killer

Ice now I like that one. Good suggestion totally better then my idea lol. I could talk about Dexter for days. The whole newest season just didn't seem right to me though. I don't like the direction they are going with it.

Really bad last six months. Hopefully it will all tie up for the positive soon, though.

Trinity is looking good! How old is she now?

That sucks man I'm sending good thoughts your way.

Thanks she is a going on 8 months now and I've personally had her for almost 6 months. I was able to get her switched over to rats no problem as well.

Thanks exwizard! I was surprised that some of the iridescence actually showed up in pics. It's pretty hard to capture a BRBs true beauty in a picture.
