Well first of all, my dad thought it would be a cool thing to make a custom enclosure for a snake I plan to buy in October. We already bought the materials and everything and we're gonna make it this weekend. It's gonna be made out of melamine with glass hinged doors and the whole 9 yards. Anyways here's the question, it's gonna be about the same size as a 40 gal breeder. I was originally going to put a ball python in it but I've grown fond of boas recently. I was thinking BRB but what full grown snakes could I hold in the enclosure comfortably? Not a corn snake since I have one. Suggestions?

Smaller boa species, large colubrids, or roughly 4 garter snakes.

A colourful milk snake would be really happy in there.

Hmm, a milk snake would be fun. What boas come to mind when you say smaller boas?

Boa c. imperator A.K.A Hog Island boa, 4-6 feet as adults, and you would be doing the species a favor, since the wild population is all but extinct.

I was just looking at Hog Island Boas, I'm not quite sure if I'm ready though. I think I'm going to decide at the expo I'm going to. That way I'll be able to interact with the numerous species.

I love my columbian rainbow boas. They aren't as colorful as the brazilian rainbow boas, but what they lack in brightness, they make up in personality. My male will hiss a little when you get him out of his enclosure, but once out does not want back in. When I go to put him up he will wrap around my wrist and I have to literally peel him off, lol. My little female will climb up onto my hand as soon as I put it in her enclosure. She is extremely calm for such a young snake and very curious. I do plan on getting a brazilian rainbow later, but will always keep my columbians, they just seem a little more "easy going" for lack of a better term than most of the brazilians I've been around. Both are fantastic snakes though.

Yes I was looking at CRBs also. I've pretty much narrows it down to Hog Island Boa, BRB/CRB, Ball Python, Lampropeltis, or possibly a small IJ Carpet.

Brb's a good choice. Heavier bodied than corns etc and gets some decent length. But nowhere near the size of a bci. I think any epicrates is a good choice really :)

A Taiwan would be good if you make it on its end and arboreal.

You know Wayne, since I plan on working with a lot wild snakes it wouldn't be the worst idea to get an evil snake :P Brooks King or a bull snake.
