Hey yall. I live in Molalla, Oregon and i went down to my pond on the property and on our way back i found a snake. im not sure what kind it is but i was hoping someone here might be able to help me out. we were on our way back home and i almost stepped on it if i wasnt looking at it, but most snakes that ive come across have slithered away. this one didnt. i picked him up and he was extremely calm and he still is. he has dark brown on the upper half of his body and a pale yellow underbody. he also has very small yellow eyes with little black pupils. his scales/body is also very soft to the touch. i put him in an old fish tank that i had and inside the tank i put about two inches of dirt and hes already burrowed into the dirt. my girlfriend said something about a worm snake but im not sure. i looked worm snakes up on google and it came up with the Eastern and Western Worm Snake but he doesnt look like them. any help? im curious as to what kind of snake he is because ive never seen them before.

Pics would be great, but it might be a good idea to get a book with a list of reptiles in your area, and the surrounding area and memorize the venomous ones.
Picking up an unknown snake can be risky.

This is so true. Picture or pictures would really help ID it.

See if any of these snakes (http://pages.uoregon.edu/titus/herp/rangemaps.html) look familiar; my money's on a Rubber Boa. Does he have a really blunt tail?
