When programming the basking light timer, do I match our regular daylight hours, or am I extending daylight hours in the enclosure??

It depends on what season of the year you want the snake to think it is.

I leave the lights on in my reptile room well into the night, but I often leave them off until 10:00 am to compensate.

well, I honestly don't think I care what time of year I want the snake to think it is. I am not breeding or anything and since it's summer right now anyways......

Now a good majority of handling would be happening after 8pm, so maybe I want to keep him lighted later in the PM and not have it turn on till later in the am, like yours??

What do you all think??

8 to 12 hours a day. You can have them come on later in the day if you want them to stay on later into the night.
