Flea powder is cheaper, frontline or similar medical treatments are better.

Not sure is Nix would kill fleas.

You can go to a vet once every year and get them to place a drop of this stuff on the dogs, not sure what it is. Flee proof dog for a year.

The problem is my baby, a 4 yr old powderpuff Chinese crested is very allergic to the fleas and he digs his hair off.. my yorkie is fine with them.. and since I have some nix/water solution left over from my mites I thought this might work....

I use to use frontline plus, but It doesnt seem to work at all... and now I have a pill, its called confortious(sp) and it works well, but just thought this would work too.....


Would it be safe to use?

Google it lol and do a little research. It might irritate their skin though. My dog has super sensitive skin and needs certain shampoo or she gets a rash so I know nix would mess her skin up.

Give Fido or Fluffy a bath. They might hate you for it but not as much as you hate the fleas.

Choose a flea shampoo carefully. Anything with conventional insecticides (pyrethrins, permethrin, d-limonene, chlorpyrifos, or carbaryl) might irritate or harm your pet, and the people around it.
Wash the neck first so that the fleas don't jump up to the head during the bath.
Apply a flea-killing product, available as a flea-collar, a spot-on, or oral medication. If the collar contains only insect growth regulator (which prevents larvae from turning into adults, but does not affect the existing adults) use another treatment, such as a spot-on product, to control adult fleas. Often the collars can be irritating to the pet's skin and are sometimes ineffective. A prescription strength (from a vet) spot-on treatment works best.The following products are not effective:

Vitamin B1 (thiamine hycrochloride) supplements
brewer's yeast
herbal collars
ultrasonic devices

I know what to do... I've had dogs for 25 years, I am just wondering if nix would help at all.

If frontline isn't working, let your vet know so they can switch things up. Vet medicine seems so sketchy down in the states. :S We carry frontline plus for those of our clients that want it, but our recommendation is always revolution and I've never see a problem with it.
You need to make sure it's been applying properly. Did you apply it? If so did you make sure you were right against the skin rather than in fur? That's a big issue. Plus the stuff will treat you're whole house as doggy runs around. :) Not sure if spraying the furry beast down with nix will do anything.

I would think that spraying your dog with nix could make them sick If they where to ingest any of it. If you put it in the same place as the other flea medication you could be ok but why risk it? If you spray the whole dog down it most likely wont get to the skin but stick to the fur then as the dog licks it will get poisoned. Just my thoughts....

OKay, once again, ive had dogs over 24 yrs, and i know how to use frontline, my dog is allergic to fleas and more importantaly their saliva...

i use a medication i get from the vet that works... i do not need any help with what to use... please understand my question....

If i use a little of my Nix/Water solution while washing my dogs, could that help against the fleas... they wont ingest any, because ill be appling it with my hands to the back of the neck/between the shoulder blades, where they cant reach...

i just want to know for curiosity reasons if this would help?

im keeping my confortious pill that i use from the vet, and the flea shampoo i use... i am just curious...

We also have a dog that is highly allergic to fleas - no need for them to even bite him, just being on him sets of the reaction. In my experiences with him i have found that ANYTHING that i put on his skin except tea trea cream plays him up more.
