Keeping temp and humidity at the right levels prevents it.
Nasal/throat gurgling and discharge is the thing to look out for.
I've never had one but I think baytril and proper humidity and temps are the cure.

You generally hear it, their breathing sounds off. Or you see discharge from the mouth/nose.

My creamsicle and normal corns have made weird breathing noises for a long time now but i dont see mucus coming from them even when i squezze their head a little.

The fact that they have been making odd sounds for years without a vet visit worries me. RI's aren't fatal till they get bad, but they are hard to get rid of at times.

Why in hell would you squeeze their head??
What you could be hearing is a little bit of stuck shed or an RI I would take them to a vet and let the vet tell you what it is...

Or they could just be stressed when handled and "puffing" a littLe, would like to know what you mean by squeezing their heads tho?

I heard from Brian Barchuck from Snakebytes that you can decet RI if you hold them behind the head you can see discharge coming from them.

I'd avoid trying this, I've never heard of this, and bones behind the head are really thin and break easy.

Just listen, and look without touching unless you need to.
