I have not slept at all since 2 nights ago.
Yesterday I decided to wash all my kittens because they were completely filthy, they were in dire need of a bath and clean bedding in their cages, & etc.
I washed Retardo first because the poor baby was underneath all the other kittens and I noticed that he was really weak, and I was hoping that he would feel better if I washed him and cleaned him up.
I bundled him up in a soft towel and made my mum hold him to keep him warm. Then I washed the rest of the litter and put them all in the cage, and let Bandit (mama cat) go in to feed them. I noticed that Retardo went completely limp, but he was sleeping. So I woke him up and his meow was considerably loud...it sounded like he was in pain. After awhile of him just going limp, I took him out again and wrapped him up in towel and held him for awhile.
Again he went limp, but he was conscious...So I told my mum to crush up the baby tablets that we bought for the animals. We mixed it with water and then used an eye drop to get it in the kitten. He woke up nearly completely and moved around a little, then laid back down. So we gave him a few drops of milk (yeah I know it's not good for cats, but he was considerably smaller than the rest of the litter and I feared it was starvation).
I put him back in the cage and checked back in every now and again, putting my finger lightly over his ribs to check for signs of breathing. He was breathing fine...
I came downstairs about 2 hours ago now, and at about 7:30AM I let Bandit into the cage and I checked on the kitten, I thought Ricardo was alive so when I saw Bandit lay against him I freaked, asked mum for help, and tried moving her and getting him out of the way...Well, mum managed to get Ricardo out of the way but I noticed that he didn't meow or move or anything...I checked and picked him up, I must've checked him like 5 times I was hoping it was just me but...He was gone. Held him in my arms and sobbed then mum held him and cried also. We must've cried for at least 2 hours...
Mum dug a hole in the yard and said her last words to him and I put him in the hole...
It has been one of the worst mornings ever...

Thanks...Yeah, I guess he's in a better place now...At least he's not suffering...It was just so awful.
I've had pet hamsters, too many fish to count, and birds that I've rescued die on me before...but...seeing a kitten die is just a thousand times worse...
