Chatting to a guy at the reptile shop this morning his Leopard Gecko is FIFTEEN!! He bought it from the same shop as a baby and has been in every week to buy crickets ever since. He said that last couple of weeks the gecko is only taking one or two crickets each week and thinks it may be dying :(

Just wondered how old others have had leopards get to?

I thought that 15-20 yrs was average for a leopard?

To be honest i have dont little research as i dont own one myself but i thought that geckos were kinds 8-10 yrs with 12 years being unusual. I may be TOTALLY wrong in whcih case his 15 yr old isnt that fantastic!! ;)

Sounds like a gecko whos well taken care of, considering most leos die at like 1-2 years because of improper husbandry.

^ yes leopard geckos are the equivalent to gold fish in captivity. They are sold to children who don't fully understand the care.

I have a customer who has a 24 year old male, says she's been waiting for it to die since her kids left for college, but he's kind of a family legend now. :P

I know that the one my friends family had was 13 when it passed away. I think it would have lived longer but it got loose in the house and their dog got it :( and the only other one I know of is 17. A friend of mine got it when she was 8 and its still alive and doing well..
