How old is it? I believe a very broad average estimate is around 10 sheds a year on the high side. or for a young growing snake. 3 weeks with no shed is not very long at all. i wouldnt worry.

I wouldn't worry. As long as he eating ok and a healthy weight he'll shed when it's time.

imo theres no set pattern to how often a carpet will shed
i have carpets out the same clutch that shed weeks or months apart, also some shed more than others
the fact that its sticking to its hide may be an indicator that its heading into shed.most my carpets are out hanging off a branch most days, but they like to stay in their hides during the shedding cycle
not shedding after 3 weeks is nothing to worry about

We jsut got a nice 5ft5in shed off our JCP, checking records it is 12 weeks since his last shed but the one before that was 4 weeks and the one before that was 8 weeks. I think it depends on how much they are growing and time of year

I have often found with many species of yearling snakes that sheds can vary from one extreme to the other.
as long as your animal is otherwise robust and healthy, there is nothing to worry about.

how old is it? adult snakes shed MUCH less often because they aren't really growing much anymore. also the actual shed process is slowed down. my BP and my adult dumerils went into blue around the same time awhile ago and the dumerils took an extra whole week or something to actually shed because he's an adult.

My snake isn't a carpet or anything like that so this may not matter. However since we got her in February she has only shed for us one time a month or so ago. She went through a short time of not eating, about a month or so, and before going back on feed she shed. I would think there is nothing overly wrong...I mean she is eating isn't she? Pooping normal?

My jag that I got in January has only shed four times for me since I've had him. There's really no set schedule that they shed by. Just like everyone else said here, as long as your snake is eating, defecating, and acting normal, then there is nothing to worry about.

not having a go at you
what made you decide he needed help shedding ?
imo you should have left nature to take its course and leave him to shed in his own time
imo the only time you should be bathing him and helping him shed is when you know for certain he has retained part or a whole shed
my apology's if i have got the wrong idea from your post
cheers shaun
