So I've had my baby columbian rainbow boa, Morpheus, a little over a week. Yesterday and today I noticed he has retrieted into the wet moss filled hide I have for him to keep the humidity good. After yesterday and today with not a peek, I decided to check on the little guy. First thing I noticed is his eyes are very cloudy looking and he stayed coiled up when I picked him up rather than being his nosey self. From what I have been reading, I suspect he is about to shed. Once the eyes are completely cloudy like they are, when should I expect him to shed? Thanks guys......can't wait for him to shed. So far I love everything about this little guy!!!!!

A week or two.
Not attacking you, but you should try and refrain from touching your snake while he is in shed, it could cause a bad shed.

Yeah I read that......as soon as I made sure he was okay and saw the cloudy eyes I misted his cage very well, re-wet his moss and put him back in front of the moss hide. Will leave him alone. Should I still see if he wants to eat on Saturday???? That is his next scheduled feed time.

It's hit and miss with snakes eating while in shed, yours may or may not. Personally I wouldn't risk the stress and having to waste a rat if he does not want to eat. 2 weeks will not hurt your snake as they are overfed in captivity anyways.

their skin dulls and their eyes cloud over (caused by a layer of liquid they produce to seperate the old skin from the new skin), then their eyes will uncloud a few days later and they will shed soon after that. if you touch the snake during the shed process the new skin will stick to the old skin undoing all the goodness the snake has done causing a bad shed :)

K thanks, May just skip feeding till the shed is complete then, he would probaby eat, lol, he's a very aggressive eater, but don't want to stress him out, wouldn't want him to have any problems with the shed.

Wow thanks Zak....didn't know touching could cause the skin to stick!

Well, saw Morpheus was out and about moving around his enclosure for the first time in days and saw 2 long pieces of skin in tank....took a look at him without getting him out and looks like it all came off. I will get him out tomorrow and make sure non of the skin stuck to him or anything. As of right now it's looking like our first shed went off without a hitch !!
